Looking for info on the marriage of these Nathaniel Mathews and Barbara Howder in 1826 in, maybe, Cambria (???) . Their first four children were born in Niagara Co. (Cambria or Lockport). Any insight into this family would be greatly appreciated.... Dwight Mathews

Ruth Alice's daughter, Ruth, married a Carl Carlson. I have found Ruth Alice. The book I have was given to Ruth Alice Hoover, on her wedding day, by her father Francis T Hoover, author of "Enemies In The Rear". Francis Trout Hoover, Clergyman and writer, was born 1841, Berk Co, PA. Moved to Niagara Co, NY. In 1910 Francis T Hoover and his wife are living in Cambria, NY. Ruth Alice Hoover, married Thomas C Whitmore, in Niagara Co., on June 24, 1908. The date wrote in the book. New York marriages list the parents of Ruth Alice Hoover, as Francis T Hoover and Jane Hedley. Thank you for all your help. I'm guessing she was born mid 1890, as the father wrote. To Ruth Alice, from Papa., Cambria, NY, June 24, 1908. This may have been a birthday gift to his daughter Ruth Alice. If you happen to find a Ruth Alice, living in Cambria, please let me know. I did find one Ruth A, living in Niagara 1910, head of household name Margaret. A Margaret is who gave the other old book to an Emma, Dec 26, 1891. I have no ideal if these two old books are connected to the same family Tina Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Add that with a town and you can narrow it down to just a few names. It is especially useful to use if you can't find someone in a certain census. I have even searched all of Niagara County by a first name if it is somewhat uncommon. You can also search by just the siblings first name too. Say Jack and Mary were brother and sister. Just put in Jack as the main name and Mary as the sibling name with no last name and it will show all in the town or county that you specify. It can be really useful sometimes when you hit a brick wall. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'll see if I can find a Ruth Alice, living in Cambria, during this time . I had thought the family may have lived in the Southeastern part of PA., during or about the time of the Civil War, since the book is about the Civil War in southeastern PA. I'm not sure when or where I came by these two old book. I know they did not belong to any of my family. Tina Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It would be wonderful to find her family and give them the book. Not sure if the other old book I have belonged to the same family or not. Written in the 2nd book, To Emma, from Margaret Dec 26, 1891, its a book of pomes by Tennyson. Thank you for your suggestion.
