Subject: RE: Carey/Tracey/Fermoile/McAvoy/Spooner?Ryan/Mahar, Eastern Niagara County, New York ----Bourney, Roscrea, County Tipp... I am searching for some way to tie the families that settled in Hartland/Somerset/Gasport/Middleport/Royalton area of Niagara County to what appears to be families that immigrated from the Roscrea/Bourney/North Riding area of County Tipperary. Surely someone out there, either in the US/Ireland/elsewhere, has a key/document that breaks this mystery. John, Oh I would love if you could look up some family for me. First I will give you family of Timothy Carey. Timothy Carey 8-14-1848 / 12-5-1916 Brigette Spooner Carey (wife) 11-1848 / 8-19-1929 Children Michael 9-25-1869 / 8-3-1870, Nora 1872 - ?, Joseph 1875-after 1946, Mary E. 1878 / 7-20-1945, Thomas 1882-between 1929-1945, Sarah 1885 / 8-22-1946, Ellen 1888- between 1916-1945 and Agnes Brigette Carey Shaver 1881 / 12-10-1945 (my direct line). Brigette Spooner. Her was dad was Michael and mother was Nora Ryan (all born in Ireland). I found son, Thomas Spooner, from an obit and all I have is birth about 1859 no death date. Timothy's parents were Michael and Brigette Ryan Carey. I got this info from death certificate of Timothy. Timothy Carey had 8 kids. My aunt (last one still living) remembers her Uncle Joe Carey brother to her grandmother Agnes. Judy Shaver Pickett In a message dated 11/27/2010 9:54:16 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, j_p_carey@hotmail.com writes: A recent discovery on fultonhistorydotcom has resulted in conformation of a family link between my Carey-Tracey g-grandparents and the Fermoiles. My g-grandparents, Daniel and Bridget Tracey Carey, arrived in NE Niagara County in late 1862, early 1863, as confirmed with the birth of their first born American child, William, in Feb 1863 (St. Patrick's RC, Barker/Hartland baptism). My grandfather, Jeremiah (Jerry), arrived at the Port of New York in May of 1863. He was accompanied by his brothers, Michael and Martin, his grandparents, Martin and Eliza McDoole Tracey and two of their daughters, Catherine and Mary (sisters to my Bridget Tracey). The marriage record, from St. Patricks, has Catherine Tracey marrying Patrick Meagher (Maher) on 4 Jan 1870 (note another spelling for McDoole/McDuell). Attached also is the baptism record for their daughter Mary, b. 14 Jan 1871. It is interesting to read the entry above Mary's, where Joseph, son of Daniel and Bridget Treacy Carey, was baptized on the same day. A witness was James(?) McEvoy. Mary Maher in turn married William Fermoile. Mary died 28 Feb 1960. While searching The St. Patricks (Hartland/Barker) records, I discovered the church obit (attached) for my g-grandfather Daniel Carey. It is interesting that it shows a date of death of 27 Nov 1899. Public records show 28 Oct 1899. ???? The church record also shows him to be 67 (b. 1831-32). This is consistent with several census records. His headstone has 1837. ??? The mysteries continue. All help is appreciated. John Carey >From the Hills of Helotes Texas

I think Ivy was probably her proper name and that she went by Marie. On legal papers her name appears as Ivy M. Lehman. On Harry's draft card from 1918 it lists his father as William. Is it possible that some of the names got mixed up over the years? I also do not believe that the Lehman in NJ is the one that you are looking for. There is also a record of a border crossing in 1918 of a Marie Clancy coming to the US from Canada. Her sister in Canada is listed as Mrs. Evan? Isralson. She has another sister listed as Mrs. Erma? Murdoch? that lives in Niagara Falls. It is very hard to make out the name but that is my best guess. Here is an obit and an in memoriam that was listed in the paper.
