one branch of my family is the Meyerses from Buffalo. some years ago i spoke to a very old lady in this family whose memories were dimming. she told me that some uncles, or perhaps great uncles, of hers had owned a hotel when she was a girl early in the century...she thought it was in Lockport, but it might have been in Olcott (my father's family, the Leonards, lived in Olcott, his mother was a Meyers.) the thing is, she didn't know if the uncles were on her father's side (Meyers) or her mother's (Ball). i'm giving what i know of both families, and wondering if someone out there has any memory of anyone of either name owning a hotel in niagara county (how's that for vague ;) ). i do not have first names for these uncles. my father, Charles Jackson Leonard his parents: Grover Cleveland Leonard and Irene Anna Meyers Irene's parents: Charles G. Meyers and Emma Jane Ball Charles's parents: Simon Meyers and Amelia Smith (perhaps originally Schmidt) Emma's parents: John L. Ball and Harriet Hollings i believe Charles (who was of German descent) and Emma (of English descent) were originally from Buffalo and later moved to Lockport, tho this is not certain. i have been told they are buried in a cemetery on the road from Lockport to Olcott. Emma was born in Logansport, Indiana, but don't know how long her family lived there. i was also told that 'Gramps' Meyers was Catholic and from Southern Germany, but the rest of the family was protestant. any help would be greatly appreciated, there is no more info to be gleaned from the remaining relatives...i've even found out things they didn't know (like Amelia's and Harriet's maiden names.) -- I never thought much of the courage of a lion tamer. GLYNN. Seeking the parents of Willard GLYNN, b. 1806 VT and d. 1885 Lockport, NY. His father was b. VT and his mother MA. Willard was m. ca. 1832 to Sarah E. __________ (her father b. NY; mother b. MA), who was b. 1805/06 Otsego Co., NY and d. 1889 Lockport. Their first child, Eliza, was b. 1833/34 , prob. at Elbridge, Onondaga Co., NY. All of these data came from the NY State Census 1855, 1865, and 1875. I have photocopied every GLYNN listing in the VT Vital Records Office near Montpiler, but no Willard! The VT GLYNNs came from only a few towns, Dorset and Springfield, which I visited, but again no Willard! Any clues, hints, suggestions, or copies of Willard's parents birth records would be appreciated. You are welcome to what data I currently have. I'd enjoy hearing from other GLYNNs.

I am researching the family name of McCargo. I have them coming from England, Ireland and Scotland, by way of Canada. The name supposedly started in Galloway, Scotland around the early 12th century. I am seeking information on Peter, David, John and Alexander McCargo, around or about 1667-1873. Alexander was supposed to have come to the Americas from Canada(1860?). John was found to have settled in Virginia in the (1600's). Peter, i have no sufficient information on. David, applied for a land grant in Virginia in 1781. David had a brother named Stephen who served in the Revolutionary War. Any information would be greatly appreciated and i am willing to share what i have. Thank you, Velma A. McCargo

List: Researching surnames of NETHAWAY & STRICKLAND in the Niagara Falls area. Based on estimated birth & marriage dates and the formation of Niagara county lines in New York, I have concluded this is one of 3 or 4 counties I should do further searching in. I have checked Orleans Co. census online and have found one possibility for Moses below, but found NO surnames of NETHAWAY from 1830 through 1855. Genesee Co. partial listings show no realistic options at this point. I have not yet checked anything in Erie Co. Name: Moses STRICKLAND Birth: abt 1827 probably New York Death: Michigan Occupation: Fruit Farmer, had apple orchards near Niagara Falls, New York Marriage: abt 1852 New York state Spouse: Helen Alnette "Ali" NETHAWAY Birth: abt 1827 New York state Death: abt 1862 Michigan (died at age of 35) Moses & Helen's granddaughter wrote down this story on the back of our only picture of Helen. The story was told to her by her mother, who was an only child to the above couple............ "Helen Alnette NETHAWAY was disowned by her parents when she married Moses STRICKLAND. The NETHAWAY's were a wealthy, aristocratic family who felt that Helen A. had married beneath their station in life. The STRICKLAND's were energetic fruit growers, who had apple orchards near Niagara Falls. Helen A. NETHAWAY's parents refused to let any of her brothers & sisters to have anything to do with her. One sister would slip away and visit Helen (living in SE Michigan), always fearful that the parents would discover it. Helen Alnette NETHAWAY grieved and it was said she died at age 35 of a broken heart." I would be grateful if SKS could check NY's census INDEX for 1840 & 1850 for the surnames of NETHAWAY & STRICKLAND. Even 1830 census heads of households would be helpful, especially for NETHAWAY. -- Shalom in Messiah Yeshua/Jesus, Shelly Low Arnold <rsarnold@macatawa.org> Holland, MI Home Page: <http://www.macatawa.org/~rsarnold/> Family History page: <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rsarnold/> Researching: ARNOLD, ATWELL, BENNETT, DEWAR, EAS(s)ON, ELDER, GROENMIEJER, LAPO, LOW, NEISH, NETHAWAY, OVERKAMP, PACKER, PLUISTER, ROSENBERG(er), SECKSTON(e), SCOTT, SKINNER, SOULE, WILCOX / WILCOCKS, WHITTEMORE.

Posted on: Niagara Co. NY Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/NY/Niagara?read=204 Surname: McIntosh, Casey, Redanz ------------------------- I have a copy of a death certificate for a Nora MCINTOSH nee CASEY who passed away in Niagara Falls, Niagara Co., New York on February 21, 1933. Her husband's name was shown to be Andus(sic) D. MCINTOSH of 1815 Linwood Ave. in Niagara Falls. Her parents were shown as Maxine CASEY and Elizabeth MARTIN. I believe than Nora was a sister or half sister to my great grandmother, Anne Elizabeth CASEY who married John HOLLER. The undertaker for the funeral arrangements was Otto F. REDANZ. This name has come up as a name that was a family friend of my grandmother, Sarah HOLLER NEEB I wonder if anyone in the Niagara Falls area knows of this family or the undertaker and can shed some light on the group or connect me with someone who can. Thank you. Sara Burkholder
Posted on: Niagara Co. NY Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/NY/Niagara?read=203 Surname: Creekmore, Holler ------------------------- About 1905 there lived in Niagara Falls, Niagara Co. New York a couple, Mary CREEKMORE and Frank M. HOLLER. On September 1st of that year they lost a son, George Francis HOLLER to Tubercular Meningitis. The boy was 4 mos old. The address given on the death certificate for the boy was 1014 Buffalo Ave. in Niagara Falls. I believe that Mary and Frank were married. I believe that Frank was my grandmother's older brother. At the time of Frank's death in 1927 he was listed as single. Did this marriage end in divorce or did Mary precede Frank in death? Does anyone have knowledge of the CREEKMORE family who might be able to shed some light on this mystery. I would be most happy to share what information I have on this group. Thanks Sara Burkholder
Posted on: Niagara Co. NY Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/NY/Niagara?read=202 Surname: Casey, Coyer, Haller, Holler, Rummel, Tasey, Tessier ------------------------- Mack and Elizabeth CASEY lived at 344 Sweeney St.. in North Tonawanda, Niagara Co., New York with their youngest daughter,Ida, in 1900. In 1910 they were living at 83 Oliver St. in North Tonawanda, Niagara Co.,with their grandson, Frank. In 1910 their daughter Ida RUMMEL and family were living at the Sweeney St. address. Ida had a husband,Emanuel, two sons,Fred and Alex as well as a daughter Leona. An older daughter Josephine COYER was living at 44 Bryant St. in North Tonawanda,Niagara Co. in 1910. She and her husband John COYER had children: Hurbert C., Arthur R., Leona J. and Vera F. all between the ages of 18 and 10. I am wondering if anyone knows the whereabouts of the children or grandchildren of these two daughters. They also had a brother Thomas Casey but he lived in Tonawanda, New York. I believe that, Frank, who was living with his grandparents in 1910 was Thomas'son. To further complicate matters I believe that the name Casey was changed from Tasey or Tessier at some point in the family history. I seek further information on these families hoping that they may have more information on Mack and Elizabeth Casey. I am hoping to connect my great grandmother Anne Elizabeth Casey Holler to Mack and Elizabeth as a daughter or step-daughter. Right now I am stuck but would be glad to share what information I have on these folks. Thanks so much Sara Burkholder

I am looking for information on the following people: (William?) Frederick Senn was born in Germany in 1839. He came to America in 1946. He married and had three daughters and a son and lived in New York state. Julia married a man named Tuebbs (sp?) and lived in Buffalo, Erie County, New York in 1926. Clara married a man named Colby and lived in Corfu, Genesee County, NY in 1926. M. married a man named Geese (sp?) and lived in Albany, NY in 1926. Henry lived in Buffalo in 1926. These children would have been born between 1857 and 1875. Their mother died when they were young and their (maternal/paternal?) aunts helped raise them. Their father remarried (maybe at Niagara Falls) and had two more children. The 2nd wife died and Frederick moved to Texas with his two youngest children. I am told that Frederick's full name was William Frederick, but I have only found records which show Frederick or F. I would like to find descendants of, or any information on, these 4 children. -- Gina Heffernan - researching ARMSTRONG BRAZZIL DISNEY FORREY HEFFERNAN HOLDER MCKINNON MELLEN MILLS O'NEAL PUCKETT RICKERT SENN SHEPHERD SPARKS WILLS and related lines.
