Settlers frum the US were invited to take up land on favorable terms by Mr. Ingersoll, but the land titles were not approved and many of the settlers returned to NY, acquiring land in the Holland Purchase area and then went to Michigan when land there was opened to homesteading. Look for your Howell and Vroman ancestors in the families attracted from western CT, and Dutchess County New York areas. Not promising anything, but the similarities are there. Earle Cummings

    3. In the 1884 National Gazetter of the US there is listed Randall Road, N.Y., p.o., Niagara co. This link shows a1895 Niagara Co. map with Randall Road between Wilson & Ransomville. http://www.livgenmi.com/1895/NY/County/niagara.htm This may be your "Randalls Corner". 1. [NYNIAGAR] Gertrude YOUNG INNES Autograph Book
    2. Sandra Luss
    3. I rescued an autograph book from 1924 that belonged to Miss Gertrude YOUNG of 350 Deerfield Avenue in Buffalo. From entries in the book I was able to determine that she married a man named Walter INNES and had at least 3 sons, Gerald, Walter and Jackie. She also had a brother Clarence YOUNG and sisters Isabelle and Mary YOUNG. The book was also signed by a niece named Irene and someone named Reta INNES who may have been a sister-in-law. I did a little research and found that Gertrude was born 21 Aug 1907 and died 7 Oct 2002 in Niagara Falls/North Tonawanda. Her husband, Walter A. INNES was born 6 May 1905 and died 29 May 1996 in North Tonawanda. Their son Walter G. INNES was born 8 Aug 1929 and died 17 Feb. 2003 in Buffalo. Please contact me if you have a connection to this family and I will gladly send the book to you. Sandy

    3. I grew up in Niagara County, NY and don't recall ever hearing about a Randalls Corners. However, there is a Randall Road in the Wilson/Ransonville area. If it intersects with another road there is always the possibility that locals refered to it as Randalls Corner. Best of luck. 3. Here is another possibility. Check out www.historicmapworks.com They have a 1908 Niagara County Atlas that is able to be viewed by each town and zoomed in on to see the names of the property owners. What I would do is to search for a small grouping of families with the surname RANDALL or a farm by that name near an intersection. I just took a very quick look and nothing jumped out at me but if you spend some serious time with it you might get lucky. See my review of the fantastic new services of Historic Map Works on my website at www.unyg.com and in my Blog on research for Upstate New York Genealogy. Dick Hillenbrand On 1/31/07, Daniel E. 3. Ken, My search was for any place name beginning with "ran." That would have returned Ransom Corner as well. The site I used is topozone.com. If you go to the advanced search (view maps, place name search) you can input the first several characters of the place name you are looking for as long as you change the search from exact match to begins with. I've found it useful many times for finding locations that aren't returned by mapping software like Yahoo, Google, or Mapquest. Good hunting. This way, others who might be researching the same names can see results of inquiries. Also, people should indicate what they already have so that volunteers do not spend their time on redundant information. As I already mentioned to you, the most likely place to find descendants would be through death notices. Joan
