My John Brewer, b. 1760s, d. 1851, lived in that area from abt 1808 on, except for a brief time around 1840 when he lived with children in MI. His wife, name unknown, died in the 1830s, and most definitely would have been buried in the Town of Wilson. It appears that all of his children eventually went to Michigan, but I'm not certain if any came back. Other families that married into the Brewers (from Niagara Co.) are Lovell, Pratt, Foster, West, Wright. I wouldn't be surprised if these surnames were to be found also in Town of Wilson cemeteries as well. Thank you for your time. Scott Kraus

A special thank you for the websites that you sent me to. The Orleans County Cemetery Index was great. Since we have been unable to locate my husband's paternal grandfather's grave, we can check out some of those cemeteries when we take a trip up to NY this summer. It's too bad that there isn't a Niagara County Cemetery Index, because our suspicions are that his grandfather might be buried around the Somerset area. This board is gatewayed to the Niagara County mailing list. In case you don't subscribe to that list, a lister pointed out a link to Niagara County burials at the ORLEANS County Genweb site, where you will find the Chase people you mentioned at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyorlean/cburials.htm Although my Maria Chase/Gould and many of her family lived in Niagara County, some were buried in Mt. I thought you might be gracious enough to give me some much needed help of locating my husband's grandfather's gravesite even though I'm sure you're very busy with your cataloging. I have managed to trace my husband's roots back to the 18th century in Stalham, Norfolk, England. We have verified from census records that his grandfather, John B. Gaze was born to John E. Gaze and Lillie May Oderkirk about 1889 in Ridgeway, Orleans County. But John B. Gaze no longer appears in the 1920 census, so we are unsure if he died or just moved out of the area. We were able to find all ten of John B.'s siblings as well as both of his parents buried in West Ridgeway Cemetery in Orleans County. But, as yet cannot find a gravestone for John B. Gaze, my husband's grandfather. Under the assumption that he may have lived close to the Barker area (where he was married to my husband's grandmother in 1911), we are thinking that his gravesite might possibly be somewhere in the Barker or Somerset area. Most of my ancestral research is done online since we live in Florida now. We are hoping to make a trip up to western NY this summer, but just don't know where to begin o! ur search for this missing "Gaze" gravestone. Have you come across any Gazes in your cataloging in Niagara County? We are already certain of only four Gaze interments that would be buried in Niagara County. If someone would take the time to do a lookup for John B. Gaze born about 1889, I would be forever grateful. Annette
