They appear in the 1860 census for Niagara County in Hartland with a 12 year old Sarah. I believe that Sarah is Sarah Iles who later married Peter Penfold and moved to Michigan. The Emminghams also moved to Michigan. I believe Sarah was orphaned. I am trying to find a connection between her and the Emminghams in order to track down who her parents were. Author: tigerlillya Surnames: Palestine Serio Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.niagara/3110/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My grandparents, Biagio Palestine and Maria Serio, were married somewhere in New York State, but I don't know the date or place. They were both born in Italy, my grandfather in 1891 and my grandmother in 1898, both immigrated through Ellis Island, were Catholic and caucasian. The 1900 and 1920 census show them in different areas of NYS. Is it possible to find somewhere a copy of the NYS census of 1915? I'm also wondering the whereabouts of some other ancestors. This would really help me a lot. Thanks, Carole Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: kathywieland Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.niagara/3109/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I bought this booklet because my Mother was a "Rose the Riveter" at the Curtiss-Wright plant in St. Louis. This is a 31 page booklet with many pictures of the operations and people of the Curtiss-Wright Airplane Division in Buffalo,New York. There are aerial views of the facility, a photo of the family home that held up production of the facility, many photos of the construction of the facility, photos of the Power House, Flight Test Hangar, Cranes at work, installing the 2 ton doors, the Fowler Plant, an engineering class at Curtiss-Wright,Judge Robert P. Patterson, the Undersecretary of War, at the dedication of the airport, a very large fold out picture of the important guests at the dedication and their comments, the plane P-40 Pursuit, and more. There is a long article describing the individual lockers for all employees, the 54 circular fountains, a view of the cafeteria, the serving counters that serve large groups of people. There are pages of "Newsy Notes on your Fellow Workers at the Curtiss-Wright Airplane Division Plants". These pages contains short anecdotes on the workers. (Unfortunately there is no index, so I cannot look for specific family members.) I believe this would be a valuable booklet for someone with connections to Curtiss-Wright's Airplane Division. Please contact me if you have an interest in this booklet. Kathy Wieland in St. Louis, MO Kathy(at)craftsbykathy(dot)com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
