I am looking for an obituary for Kate (Kittie) Everett Gallecie, b. in 1870, who died suddenly in Suspension Bridge on April 16, 1892. Her husband was Frank A. Galleciez and both were from Jefferson County before their marriage. Is there anyone with access to local newspapers who could do a lookup for me? Any help is much appreciated. Carolyn Bulgey

Jim, I went to the Niagara Falls Public Library on Tuesday June 19th 2007 and checked the City Directories for Francis (Frank) D. Flynn 1890 through 1896 with no success. The above is my Great Grandfather. He is Irish, but born in Scotland. He arrived in Buffalo, NY in 1887 (possibly a year or two earlier), and remained in Buffalo for most of his life. However he disappears in the years 1890, 1891, 1895, and 1896. His occupation was ships carpenter and family lore always said he worked on one of the Maids-of-the-Mist. It occurred to me that he might have lived in Niagara Falls in those years he was missing in Buffalo. At least one Maid was built on the American side. I was hoping some kind person could look in Niagara Falls Library collection of city directories to see if he is there for those years. I thank you in advance. Best regards, Jim

I need to know the first name of my g.g.grandfather "J" STOW in order to try to go back another generation. He married Elizabeth ??, who lists her birthplace as NY. They had 6 sons, 5 of whom created the internationally known STOW CIRCUS- John, Eliakim, Wesley, Apolias, Harrison. (The 6th sons is unknown.) Elizabeth was born in NY in 1797, and John b. 1818, & Eliakim b. 1820 consistently list NY as their birthplace; the ohers were born in OH. I am assuming that "J" & Elizabeth were married in NY. Are there any county marriage and/or birth records 1815 - 1820? I recently found a brief obituary of Elizabeth in the Cleveland Necrology File #078. It said, "Widow Elizabeth Stow, in the 60th year of her age died April 14, 1857" She is buried in Ottokee, OH; her stone says, "Betesy - wife of "J" STOW." My g.grandfather, Harrison, was born in 1837; Elizabeth is listed as the head of the household in 1840 in Cuyahoga Co OH. So, I'm assuming "J" died between 1837-1840. Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Another idea might be to try the different sites that list Circus histories and have query pages. A google search found this for you: http://www.circushistory.org/Query/Query06g.htm<http://www.circushistory.org/Query/Query06g.htm>> There is also an Elles-Stow Historical Society that you might want to check out.
