I've "rescued" a group of photographs belonging to the KING Family of New York State. The photographs included are: * Hawley KING, taken at the W. G. Smith Studio in Cooperstown, NY, 1870's, man in his 50's or 60's, note "Father of Ophelia KING DIX" * Ophelia KING DIX, taken at the O. Monroe Studio in Dunkirk, NY, 1860's, young woman in her teens or 20's, note "Mother of W.S.D" * Ophelia KING DIX, taken at the H. S. Wells Studio in Norwich, NY, 1880's, woman in her 30's or 40's * Volney KING, taken at the Jordan & Co. Studio in New York City, 1870's, man in his 20's or 30's, note "son of Uncle Levi KING" Based on limited research I was able to find the following information regarding this family in the census records: 1860 census of Otsego, NY: Hawley KING, age 50, a Farmer, born NY Alathea KING, age 42, born NY 1870 census of Milford, NY: Althea KING, age 52, Keeping House, born NY 1880 census of Morristown, NJ: Ophelia K. DIX, a widow, age 35, born NY, a Teacher, parents born NY Walter S. DIX, son, age 13, born NY, in School, parents born NY Other photographs recovered from the same source come from the BERRY, SOUTHWORTH, BOSS, and CONNER Families. Not sure how they are all connected, however, the handwritten notations on all are made by the same hand. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old group of family photographs can be returned to their rightful place with family. If you are a member of this KING Family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
