Some of you may recall Sebastiaan Vonk, the 14-year-old Dutch boy who has adopted the grave of an American airman, Lawrence F. Shea, a Brooklyn native who died in 1945 in Germany, at the age of 21. Sebastian was trying to make contact with Lawrence Shea's surviving family members. (See this web site for Sebastiaan's story: http://www.thetroubleshooters.com/80th/shea001.html.) To help Sebastian, I sent for Lawrence's obituary from the Brooklyn Public Library. With Lawrence's obit, I was able to track down one of Lawrence's nephews, a son of Lawrence's brother Walter. I contacted the nephew, who lives in Pennsylvania. When I told the nephew Sebastiaan's story, his response was odd -- something less than enthusiastic. Nonetheless, I sent Sebastiaan the nephew's e-mail address. Sebastiaan would like a photo of Lawrence Shea. I hope Lawrence Shea's nephew will accommodate Sebastiaan. I think Sebastiaan deserves praise for his kindness in adopting Lawrence Shea's grave. Mark Lomax Pasadena, CA
