Fiona-- Have you checked the 1930 census for the Mrs. Catherine CAVANAUGH who is listed on James's WWII draft card? Have you noted a probable match in the 1918 WW I Draft cards, showing a James McKINNEY born [month illegible] 25, 1883, who lists Mrs. John CAVANAUGH of 137 W. 63rd St. --a friend-- in the "Nearest Relative" section of his draft card. Have you found James elsewhere in 1930, or do you mean that you haven't been able to find him at all in 1930? ----- Original Message ----- From: Fiona Jones To: nynewyor@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2007 7:24 PM Subject: [NYNEWYOR] street directories Would anyone know if there are any street directories for NY around 1942? I would like to find out who the homeowner was at 6 Amsterdam Avenue, NY. This was the address given for James McKinney on his WWII draft card but he isn't there on the 1930 census. Thanks, Fiona. Hi Mary, Yes I do have his draft card - thank you. I'm afraid I can't find James or Mrs. Cavanaugh anywhere on the 1930 despite trying all sorts of spelling variations. It's always possible that they just didn't get counted in the census I suppose.
