    3. Debbi, I'm sorry that was the wrong map site I sent; it wasn't supposed to be a shopping site. I've got to run, but I'll try to find the one I was thinking of later. There are tons of old maps on-line for free. Trying googling something like: +map +manhattan +1875..1900 and see what that turns up. A quick search found me this 1886 map: http://www.brorson.com/maps/NYC/LowerManhattan_1886/LowerManhattan_1886_Leve l1.html Juliann -----Original Message----- From: J Hansen [mailto:jrsh9999@earthlink.net] Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2007 11:41 AM To: 'nynewyor@rootsweb.com' Subject: RE: [NYNEWYOR] West 49th Street Debbi, I've collected a few sites with historical photos and/or tidbit histories around NYC. Maybe what you're looking for is on of these: http://www.nyc-architecture.com/ http://www.forgotten-ny.com/index.html This site has historical NYC maps: http://www.everythingnyc.com/noname1.html This site tells you how you can view on mf or purchase tax photos of buildings in NYC. "Between 1939 and 1941, the city photographed every house and building in the five Boroughs. Copies of these unique images are now available for purchase." http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/taxphotos/home.shtml Hope this helps. Is there anywhere on the internet where I could view a map and maybe some pictures of this street taken around 1880's. > > Thank you for your help > > Debbi No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. Hi, Would anyone know if there are any street directories for NY around 1942? I would like to find out who the homeowner was at 6 Amsterdam Avenue, NY. This was the address given for James McKinney on his WWII draft card but he isn't there on the 1930 census. Thanks, Fiona.

An elderly aunt of mine once said that "in the old days" renters moved every year to get a clean, freshly painted apartment in New York City. ----- Original Message ----- From: Fiona Jones To: nynewyor@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2007 7:24 PM Subject: [NYNEWYOR] street directories Hi, Would anyone know if there are any street directories for NY around 1942?
