Her late husband had been a very sucessful business man, owner of a shipping company and at his death past president of the Maritime Commission. I cannnot find her in the SSDI or in the Italian or German death certificate indexes. She may not have ever had a SS card. I have a subscription to Ancestry.com but the newspaper lookups are insanely slow with my dial up connection. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to find an obituary?
