    1. [NYNEWYOR] How to obtaining a Manhattan Marriage certificate (Eaton/Sullivan)
    2. Debbi Powell
    3. Dear listers, I am new to this site and unsure of what information I will be able to obtain and would appreciate any help. The information I have managed to find is as follows: My x4 great grandparents John Eaton and Bridget Corrigan (who where both born in Ireland) had a daughter, Mary Ellen Eaton (born c1857,in Ireland) who I have found out was married in Manhattan, New York to a Timothy James Sullivan (born c1850 in Massachusetts, New York, New York) on the 10th November 1878. I would like to obtain a copy of their marriage certificate but I'm unsure as to where I can obtain this from and I also would like to know the costs of a international purchase, as I live in England. Additional information I have from Ancestry.com is: Cert number: 6331 Source: Marriage registers, extracts from Manhattan (1869 -1880) Publisher: Dept of Health, division of Vital statistics, New York Publication place: New York, New York. If any lister has any other information about this family I would be very grateful for any data from them as I have hit a brick wall with my Irish ancestral line and I am also curious as to why, as far as I can tell, Mary Ellen went to America on her own. Thanking you in anticipation Debbi

    3. Hi, Sorry I can't answer most of your questions, but I would think you have plenty of info. However, I'd wonder about Timothy's place of birth--Massachusetts is a separate state from New York--not a section of New York City. Perhaps he was born in Manhattan, New York, New York, or in Massachusetts. Best of luck!
