I've "rescued" and old marriage certificate belonging to Mr. John STOOTHOFF of Brooklyn, NY and his bride Miss Amanda F. JENNINGS of New York City, NY. The couple was married on the 2nd of Aug 1854 at the Norfolk Street Baptist Church in New York City with the officiating Pastor being M. L. ARMITAGE. The certificate was placed in an envelope with the name Mrs. J. STOOTHOFF and the words "Marriage Certificate" written on the front of the envelope. Based on limited research I was able to locate census information regarding this family: 1860 census of New York City, NY: John STOOTHOFF, age 31, a Clerk, born NY Amanda STOOTHOFF, age 30, born NY Harry STOOTHOFF, age 5, born NY Eunice JENNINGS, age 25, born NY 1900 census of Mt.
