    1. [NYNEWYOR] 1875 NYS Census update for Troy transcription project
    2. Pat Connors
    3. I am happy to tell you that the 9th ward of this census has gone online (Troy section of my website) tonight. This ward contains 4,804 dwellings, 7,106 families and 4,184 individuals. This brings the total so far for the online census at 34,877 individuals. We have completed the 10th ward and it is currently being put together and proofread and should go online sometime at the end of the week. The 11th ward is almost completely transcribed and we are currently working on the 12th and 13th wards. The goal is to complete the census and have it online by the end of the year. After that, I will combine it ( like the 1880 and 1900 censuses) to create a name index for easier searching. The people to thank for taking time out of their busy lives to transcribe the pages are: Lynn Grice, Sharon King, Bob McConihe, Joe Murnane, Marialice Mangan, Shirley Becker, Kay Brearton, Ronnie Lorentz, Gary Carver, and Chuck Casale. Without their help this would not be online. Remember this is basically an index and the census should be referred to for more information. Also, read the notes, they list the problems we encountered when transcribing the pages. If you would like to help, email me off line. All you need is a database program, like Works or Excel and a little time. After we get this census online, our next project will be the 1870 census. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
