    3. I am glad this topic came up. I have been looking at Lutheran Cemetery in Queens, where my gr-grandfather is buried and St. Raymond's in the Bronx for my gr-grandmother and I saw these fees for "genealogy research" for Lutheran Cemetery and then for St. Raymond's there were prices for "genealogy research" too. Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but I have a question. If I request information about my family (where the gravesite is located, funeral home, etc.) I have to pay for this? I understand if I want a document with this information, but just verbal information about my own family, especially since you must know the date of death and/or interment? I have searched the L. I. National Cemetery, which is great because at the entrance there is an office with a computer and you can look up the gravesite. This too is a huge cemetery and requires transportation to get from one end to the other. I have also searched East Hillside Cemetery in Nassau County (it borders Glen Cove), a small cemetery, only 5,000. The person in charge of this cemetery, "Bear" was so helpful. I called asking information and initially, he told me that my gr-grandparents were buried there, but something wasn't clear with the records and he couldn't tell me where they were buried, but he told me when they died, when they were born, the funeral info, whether there was an obit. and the other gravesites that belong to the family and who are buried there. He also offered to meet me at the cemetery and help me look. I went out there once with very little time and couldn't find the gravesite (it was late and started getting dark, and I had limited time so I didn't call Bear). About a month later, back in SC, I got a call from Bear and he gave me the exact gravesite information with landmarks, who was buried there, the connections with the other gravesites that belonged to the family. All this and free. He certainly went above and beyond his duties, and based on these last few e-mails, I am even more grateful to this generous man. Is there not a way for family to search or receive this information at Lutheran or St. Raymond's without paying so much money? It would seem that since Calvary Cemetery has over 5 million people buried and they charge so much for info, they should be able to set up a computer system for relatives to find their loved ones.
