There are a number of locations in Westchester County and NYC in which the mailing address (based on the discretion of the US Postal Service) and the town or county in which one lives is different. It does not matter if someone dies in a certain zip code, but the county and town in which one has died is the one who issues the death certificate. For example, I once had a Scarsdale zip code address but actually lived and paid taxes to and would have sent my children to New Rochelle. A friend of mine lives in the Bronx NY, pays taxes to NYC but has a Pelham Manor zip code address. That's just the way it is!
