    3. Hi Peter...we do keep meeting in a lot of places!!!! You have probably done this but sometimes the obvious eludes even the best of us :-) have you checked the later census for this family to see if they are still in the US. If they are then they probably aren't the ones you are after. If you don't have access to these I can do it for you. Fiona. IGP Co. He is noted in a family bible here in Australia as being born in New York City in 1853. This bible was commenced after he married my G grandmother. He came to OZZ in the 1870's which was after the gold rushes so that was not the reason. He died in Sydney in 1929. I have found on Ancestry an extract from the 1860 US Census which lists a BROWNING family in "New York Ward 7, District 1, New York". They are :- Richd BROWNING, age 26 Hanns BROWNING, age 22 Jno BROWNING, age 6 Chas BROWNING, age 4 (IE born C 1856) Willm BROWNING, age 3 Geo BROWNING, age 1 Jno BROWNING, age 38 Emma BROWNING, age 7 Also 2 others, Eliza Egerton age 19 and Joseph Mernick age 23. Is there anyone out there who may know of this family and could giove me a clue on whether this is my G grandfather and why he came to OZZ?
