    2. The first place anyone should check is the 1880 federal census. Women and children are named, and access is free. Next, try the NYTimes archives...if it was for rich folks, my ancestors would not have been in there. Also, search the 1910 census as it give the exact month and year of birth of each person enumerated. If you don't have access to Ancestry.com, find a local library that subscribes to it. You may have to do some legwork to ascertain which common Irish name in a newspaper is yours anyway.
