    3. Thanks for the heads-up, Mary. One of my pet peeves is when authors of sites and books "reinvent the wheel" by merely reformatting data, then...ka ching ka ching...charge a Ben for it!!! The best Metro NYC book out there remains "Genealogical Resources in New York" by Estelle M. Guzik, hardcover for $ 2.46 http://www.amazon.com/Genealogical-Resources-York-Estelle-Guzik/dp/0962186317 The only repository that's changed is NARA's move from Varick Street to One Bowling Green. Nothing has changed with MUNI Archives collections, holdings or BMDs, other than more than doubling the price 7 yrs ago, oh, and charging for mailing...$2.50 for one trifold certificate. DOH has yet to comply with forwarding "historical" years of BMDs to the Archives. This appears to be an apple political football. This means> BIRTHS>should be up to 1940, NOT the present 1909 [75 y in NYS]; MARRIAGES> should be up to 1965, not the present 1937 [50y in NYS]; DEATHS> should be up to 1965, not the present 1937 [50y in NYS] Saying it in NY, Barb -----Original Message----- From: Mary D. Taffet via [email protected] I'm attending the New York State Family History Conference here in Syracuse, and noticed today at the NYGBS table that they are developing a new research guide, along the lines of the research guide for the state that they published in the last year (that one is described at <http://newyorkfamilyhistory.org/global/store/new-york-family-history-research-guide-and-gazetteer>). The new research guide has the title "The Municipal Archives of New York City, An Authorized Guide for Family Historians". Mary
