    3. Someone asked about a certificate request that was returned "not found." Here's just one example of a transcription error in the IGG/GGG Index. When searching either the Bride or Groom [below], neither had a click-through spouse noted. or Charles. [Bride] McCloskey Anne Jun 13 1878 Cert # 374 Kings [Groom] Valentine Charles Jun 13 1878 Cert #1349 Kings These two were married to each other on 13 June 1878. Note the different certificate numbers? Someone made a transcribing error.. I viewed both certificates by County, Event, Year/Date, and certificate number, not by name. My hunch was right. Cert # 374 means that it was the 374th Marriage in Brooklyn that year. That number is way too low for a populated city in mid-June. What one one transcriber saw as #374 another saw as #1349. This is why you can't assume that any index is absolutely correct. You have to see the original documents.. Barb
