A few weeks ago I posted a request from Sebastiaan, a young man in the Netherlands searching for family of Corporal Lawrence F. Shea, who was killed during WW 11. His grave site has been adopted by this young man and he was hoping to contact family members to let them know he hasn't been forgotten. The post was answered with an avalanche of responses from people asking how they could help -- to just wanting Sebastiaan to know how heroic his efforts are.. I contacted Terry D. Janes from the Troubleshooters web site and he, along with Sebastiaan, and another American volunteer, (I'm sorry, I do not have the name), have reached this point: PLEASE see link _http://www.thetroubleshooters.com/80th/shea001.html_ (http://www.thetroubleshooters.com/80th/shea001.html) God bless everyone who offered Thanks, Prayers, time and effort in helping find Corporal Shea's family. Angels don't need wings, they just need over giving hearts..... A Very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy Hannakau Nancy

It seems that they are not listed on the LDS site. I do not know if you have ever use this site before but if you go to familysearch.org--up at the top you will see family history lib. When you hit that tab, type in new york, new york. Go then to "vital records". Then hit (top right) "view films". You will then be given a list of films that have to do with vital records in NYC for different dates. These are lists of films that can be ordered at an LDS/FHC. There should be a couple in your neighborhood depending where you are located. They costs 5.50 each and you are able to view them at the center for 6 weeks. You need films for marriage records for 1882/3. Have you viewed your family in the 1900 census? It says that in 1900 your family has been married for 18 years. That would place them around 1882. They have several children listed but she has had six with only four living. Their names were: Harry- b. Sept 1883 Daisy-b. Nov 1885 Arthur-b. Jan 1888 Thomas-b. Dec 1893 That's about all I can do for you now...If you live near a center I suggest that you visit, especially if you live in NY. In Plainview LI they have a really good center with many films for vital record indexes. Not sure if you have looked or submitted to the LDS/IGI but listed there is: John Tucker m. Agnes Jane Thompson on 20 oct 1889 in NYC (extracted marriage record but only the batch number was listed and not the film number) Richard N. Tucker m. Alicia Lewis on 16 Nov 1891 in NYC (also extracted) Both have listed as parents John Tucker and Margaret Blair. Also the last three girls listed in the 1860 census (if you were not able to read) were Jennet, Racheal, and Agnes. Jennet was a very popular Scottish name sometimes spelled as Jeanette, Janet. At the LDS family search site you can also order index to deaths for NYC for that time period and for the time period that you think that Margaret might have died. If you go to www.italiangen.org you might be able to find her death record if you know what borough she died in. Good luck Joan ---- J & S Duggan wrote: >Hi there. Wondering if anyone can assist me. Hi there. Wondering if anyone can assist me. I'm looking for the death of John Tucker in Manhattan between 1871-1880. He was born in England about 1832. Also looking for his wife, Margaret Tucker (nee Blair). She was alive in 1920 census in Manhattan but not in 1930. She was born in 1832 in Scotland. I'm also looking for their marriage in Manhattan in the 1850's. Lastly, any help with locating births of children from these two individuals in Manhattan between 1850 and 1870. Many thanks. Kind Regards, Jim Tasmania
Hi- Not sure if you have this already, but I found John Tucker and his family in 1860. There were the following children: John, born in New York, age 4 Margaret, born in Canada, age 3 James, born in Canada, age 3 and 3 girls, born in New York, age 2 months, I can make out Rachel and Agnes, but not sure of the third one. John Tucker, the father was a plasterer. Are you sure about the birth year for Margaret? You may want to try this site: http://www.italiangen.org/ It does death and marriage records for some time periods in New York, and it also has a printable form to order records for New York. Hope this helps Kate --- J & S Duggan <jdu85255@bigpond.net.au> wrote: > Hi there. Wondering if anyone can assist me. I'm > looking for the death of > John Tucker in Manhattan between 1871-1880. I believe she is in New York at that time, because once she arrived from Sweden, in about 1882-4, I find her only on NY census records. She may be listed as an actress, and I believe she would be in Manhattan, perhaps East 31st Street. any help is greatly appreciated Kate --------------------------------- Want to start your own business? Hi Dora, I seem to be making a right mess of this and am very sorry, I will give you the details again to see if I have got it correct this time. Patrick Gibbons Bn. 1854 Ireland. Margaret (Casey) Gibbons Bn. 1858 England Patrick Gibbons Jnr. Bn 1874 England Bridget Gibbons Bn 1879 England Ann Gibbons Bn 1880 England. What makes me almost certain they were in New York is that I have seen pictures of Bridget and Ann the daughters taken in Brooklyn dressed in what looks like 1st Communion dresses. I am not a Catholic so am not even sure of that, they could have just been dressed up for the pictures. I have had one reply just giving me the name information shown above but not saying where it was from, but I thought it was New York. (Not about the pictures) I hope I haven't confused you any more (I am even confusing myself now I wish I was 20 years younger.) Very sorry Cheers Pauline
How do you send a census page? I've tried sending them to my mother in law without success. That's why I didn't just send the unreadable images. I also ahven't found a way to save the entire image Hi, assume you are using ancestry.com...Once you open up the census image there will be a save button in the upper left hand corner. Hit the save button and download the image to your documents and give the file a name. Then send your e mail to whomever and attached the file you just downlaoded as an attachment

Hi Dora, Thank you very much for all the trouble you have taken sending these Gibbons family, unfortunately the Gibbons I am looking for did not immigrate until After 1881 as I have them on the English 1881 census, but that takes nothing away from the help you have tried to give me. A very big thank you Best Wishes Pauline. PS. I am working on the Smith family in England in my own tree I have to families of Smith's (a very common name in England) which makes very hard but enjoyable pastime trying to sort them. Unfortunately my Smith's all stayed in England.
Hi Mary, I have replied separately to your other mail. Thanks again Cheers Pauline
Hi Dora, If I want send anything I print it out and then scan it to E-Mail and it goes as an attachment as I am very good on the internet at the best of times, old age I guess. (My 40 year old son takes great pleasure in telling his friends that "mother is better than them on the Computer") but he doesn't tell them how bad I am on the net. I have received your other mail and have replied separately. Regards Pauline
That was the 1900 census information I sent you - were they in New York at that time? I thought that was specifically what you'd asked for. Hi Pauline, This is the family you are looking for, I condensed it since censuses are not accurate and would not list city born, only state/country. And even though you feel Margaret was born in England, the census shows Ireland. This can be that the enumerator presumed Ireland since Patrick was born there. Patrick Gibbons, 1854, Ireland Margaret (Casey) Gibbons, 1858, England Patrick, 1874, England Bridget, 1879, England Ann, 1880, England There is a couple, Patrick (1855) Ireland and Margaret (1858) Ireland, which comes the closest to your family. As the census states this Margaret had 7 children, 3 living. Then if this is your family, then Patrick 1874, Bridget 1879, and Ann 1879, had died by the 1900 census. The first child living of this family is Michael, 1885. And there is a Michael Nevins, 27 (1873) who could of been married to Bridget, since he is listed as son-in-law. Name: Patrick Gibbons Home in 1900: Manhattan, New York, New York Age: 45 Estimated birth year: abt 1855 Birthplace: Ireland Relationship to head-of-house: Head Spouse's name: Margaret Race: White Immigration year: 1878 Name: Margaret Gibbons Home in 1900: Manhattan, New York, New York Age: 42 Estimated birth year: abt 1858 Birthplace: Ireland Relationship to head-of-house: Wife Spouse's name: Patrick Race: White Immigration year: 1874 In looking at the image, I feel Patrick Sr. listed above actually immigrated in 1873, with his wife following in 1874. Others listed in the 1900 census with this family are as follows Michael Gibbons 14 Mary Gibbons 10 Patrick Gibbons 8 Michael Nevins 27 - son in law Delia Nevins 14 - neice I shall keep checking for a variation of Gibbons. -- Regards, D.R. (His wife's maiden name Casey) Patrick Gibbons Bn. abt 1874, Birmingham, England. Bridget Gibbons Bn. Abt. 1879 Birmingham, England and Ann Gibbons Bn Abt 1880, Birmingham, England. The only thing I have to date is that they immigrated to the USA after 1881, I do not know where from. I have seen is two pictures of the two daughters taken in Brooklyn in what appears to be their first Communion and a friend told me she thinks she saw a reference to a Patrick & Margaret Gibbons on the above census. I would be very grateful for any help. Regards Pauline
On the Internet I found my great uncle Gabriel Palmer's date of naturalization. Title and location of the court is COMMON PLEAS, COURT, NEW YORK COUNTY. It gives the date Oct 23, 1865, bundle number, copy of record number, address 142 - 6 ST NY City, former nationality, and his brother's name and address as witness. Occupation, Date of birth, Port of Entry and Date of Arrival are all left blank. It looks like it might be a file card. Does anyone know if there would be a document with further information? Or who to contact for more information. Thanks for any help. Barbara, Oro Valley, AZ
