    1. [NYNEWYOR] How to easily search the GRAVESTONE INSCRIPTIONS OF GREEN-WOOD CEMETERY
    2. Mary Thiele Fobian
    3. It is NOT necessary to actually visit each of the 22 pages of inscriptions and search within each page for all the surnames you're researching. Here's how to do it easily: 1. Go to google's Advanced Search template at http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en 2. In the "Exact Phrase" box, enter GRAVESTONE INSCRIPTIONS OF GREEN-WOOD CEMETERY 3. You can now do one of the following: a. enter ONE of the surnames you're researching in the "with all of the words" box , then click on the "Google Search" button OR b. enter multiple surnames you're researching in the "with at least one of the words" box, then click on the "Google Search" button (I recommend searching for one surname at a time, as described in 3a.) This search will look for instances of the surname(s) in all 22 pages of the cemetery inscriptions simultaneously. 2. As a reminder: the Brooklyn Genealogical and Information Pages _http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/_ (http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/) contains a section for certificates that are NOT yours. In the hopes that someone searching will connect with them. Originally they were for Brooklyn people only but so many people have sent me others I have also included the surrounding areas. Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk, and Staten Island. Anyone is invited to submit there certificates for inclusion : Birth Death Marriage I ask only that you follow the FORM OUTLINE for submission as this makes it easier and faster to get them loaded on the page. To submit a MARRIAGE: _http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/PaperTrails/Marriage/Groom/index.html_ (http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/PaperTrails/Marriage/Groom/index.html) To submit a BIRTH: _http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/PaperTrails/Birth/index.html_ (http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/PaperTrails/Birth/index.html) To submit a DEATH: _http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/PaperTrails/Death/index.html_ (http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/PaperTrails/Death/index.html) You can also submit a scan of the certificate with the information and I will add it with the information. 2. I thank the folks who are trying to help me find the information I'm trying to get about JOSEPH STACY PHELON, Jr. SKS did send me the info for the WW2 card, but I think the earlier one had a different named reference. (I might be dreaming that I know this, but - -) For some reason I think that on that earlier card someone whose last name is HOLMES is there. Holmes just might be the surname of his wife's uncle or grand uncle but that's only a guess. I've been unable to connect with that particular line of Holmes. Got to try every little angle, right? I have checked out various Holmes people, but none seem to "click." I am grateful for everyone's interest. Thank you. 3. Steve Morse's one-step website http://stevemorse.org now has a utility for searching the Canadian Border Crossing records. Look at the bottom of the "Other Ports of Immigration" section of his website. Although this ties in with a commercial website, Steve's form allows you to get quite a bit of information without having a subscription to that website. And his search form allows you to search on many more parameters than are provided by the site's own search form. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about this, please write directly to Steve. His address is at the top of his website. Diane Jacobs

    3. Hi Heidi, You are correct, if you click on the correct link below the default image icon, not the blank form link, the viewer will open and you get no image. If you notice in the upper right corner Having problems viewing this image?, click on that and you can send a message regarding Missing Image. Which I did, maybe if more than one person does report the missing image, Ancestry will act on it faster. Report an Image Problem Thank you, your feedback has been submitted. Database: World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Problem type: Missing Image Description: No image appears for Name: Joseph Stacy Phelon Jr. City: East Orange County: Essex State: New Jersey Birth Date: 17 Jan 1886 Race: White Roll: 1712095 DraftBoard: 0 Now how may I help you with finding Holmes and I do not see how a Phelon is a Holmes, if I understand your e-mail, unless adopted. Or are you saying a Holmes married into the Phelon family? -- Regards, D.R. 1. [NYNEWYOR] WW1 Draft Registration Card
    2. Hi, listers, "They're" trying to make me crazy! I am trying to find out just who was the reference (or next of kin person) on a draft registration card. Ancestry, of course, shows me a BLANK even though the name is listed in their index. Is there SKS who would help me by looking at this particular card and telling me who the next of kin (or whatever) is on that card? I cannot get into NYC to check myself. The name is: JOSEPH STACY PHELON, Jr., East Orange, New Jersey and his birth date is January 17, 1886. The main reason I would love to have this information is because I cannot find my HOLMES connection, and it seems to me that somewhere in the past, someone said that a person by the name of Holmes was that person , and I'd like to know more about them!!! Would appreciate anybody's help on that. Thank you, Heidi ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
