    3. Thanks you Gail, and sleuth Bob, for finding Gail's German ancestors' hometown yesterday. You inspired me to try Family Search once again for my gg grandparents from Prussia. This is the beauty of Family Search. You've got to keep comin' back to score the goodies. Sure enough, I found their NYC Marriage in 1858!!! Manhattan, NY, NY 1858, June 28 G: Peter KREMER, WSM, age 21y b GERM approx 1837 B: Maria YOERG, WSF, age 21y b GERM approx 1837 1st child: Mary b 6 July 1860 [found in NYC birth index] I have Peter's NYC records until his death as: KRAMER, a barber, from Prussia. All 5 daughters and 1 son married and baptized their own children at Trinity Episcopal or on of T's satellites in Manhattan= non-Catholics. I'd like to know Peter's hometown in Prussia. Do I search for Johann Peter KRAMER? I'd like to know the NYC church they married in in 1858. Thank you. Barb [email protected]

    1. [NYNEWYOR] FYI NYC house photos & Manhattan house on Vandam Street
    2. mizscarlettny via
    3. If your ancestor lived in a house that was still standing circa 1939, you may be in luck. Through FDR's Works Projects program, every building in Greater NYC was photographed in black and white. These are called the WPA Tax Photos. If you ever tried to photograph a NYC building, the streets can be so narrow that you can't capture the entire building in your viewfinder. That's not the case with these WPA shots. I own a few and have seen many more. They are beautiful, clear shots taken by professional photographers. If you have the opportunity, preview the photograph before ordering. More information here>>> http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/photos/photos.shtml Barb [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: VLB via <[email protected]> I'm drooling. And just shy of $16 million, sorry to say.It is so wonderful that a least a few old NYC houses are left. I have many ancestors all over Manhattan and Brooklyn but know of only one house left where gt gt grandparents lived--in Greenpoint.I occasionally Google various ancestral addresses and they are all under skyscrapers et al.My grandparents' houses are still standing in Brooklyn. One is a brownstone we cousins all loved. They owned it from abt 1925 to the early 60s and sold for $20,000 when they downsized. It recently sold for almost $750,000 and 'needs work'.Thanks for the gorgeous photo and description, Barb. 1. Re: [NYNEWYOR] Peekskill & Villa Loretto & single, pregnant girls
    2. Michael Hamill via
    3. In one example in my NYC family, c. 1929, both the unmarried mom and her new-born daughter used the mom’s maiden name. There is no evidence of using the father’s name; when the mom did marry someone else later and changed her name to her new husband’s, the daughter kept the name she was born with. But I bet there was not one way to do this, it must have depended on circumstances. 3. This article specifically refers to Internet Explorer aka IE. Please follow the below statement to the link. "Is your antivirus protecting your computer or making it more hackable? Internet security experts are warning that anti-malware technology is becoming less and less effective at protecting your data and devices, and there's evidence that security software can sometimes even make your computer more vulnerable to security breaches. "This week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) issued a warning about popular antivirus software made by Symantec, some of it under the Norton brand, after security researchers with Google's Project Zero found critical vulnerabilities." Long considered the south village's best kept secret, it has now been discovered, and is much coveted especially since it is perfectly balanced between the Village and Soho. This block has been the home of some of New York's most celebrated artists. Number 27 is part of a continuous row of early federal townhouses each with original steps, entrances, pitched roofs, dormers and ironwork. Such harmony of old houses built within a few years is rare indeed. "This single family home is four stories plus a spectacular 600 square foot skylit addition with 11' ceilings and 3 skylights: fantastic gallery, billiard room or recreation room. There are wonderful open loft like entertaining rooms throughout the house. The parlor floor has a gracious living room and dining room each with original fireplaces and a fabulous chef's kitchen with two-story glass picture window opening onto a beautifully landscaped garden. The garden floor has a family room with a wood burning fireplace and a library with floor to ceiling glass doors that open onto the garden where there is an outdoor teak and stainless summer kitchen. There are five large bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two powder rooms. The tranquil master suite has two wood burning fireplaces, a dressing room, and sumptuous bath. The gorgeous bedroom opens onto a large private terrace with a custom Japanese soaking tub and Jacuzzi that overlooks the serene garden." Barb [email protected]
