    3. Thanks again...I am hoping to at least pin down the date a little before I pester the churches. -----Original Message----- From: nynewyor-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nynewyor-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Elizabeth V Cardinal Sent: Friday, January 25, 2008 9:28 AM To: nynewyor@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYNEWYOR] Marriage INdexes You may want to try to narrow down the churches in that area and write to them. They may be quite reluctant or refuse to search for such a long period of time but it is worth a try. http://archny.org/parish-search/ Elizabeth V. 3. Thanks Elizabeth - I wasn't sure if they would be OK with people calling - but I'll give it a go. -----Original Message----- From: nynewyor-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nynewyor-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Elizabeth V Cardinal Sent: Friday, January 25, 2008 9:17 AM To: nynewyor@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYNEWYOR] Calvary Cemetery Queens NY Call Calvary and they will confirm the person is interred there. 1. [NYNEWYOR] Marriage INdexes
    2. Fiona Jones
    3. Dear LIST I have just discovered from information on a death cert. that my friend's GU married sometime in New York (most likely Manhattan) between 1942 and 1950. Are there any online or other indexes of marriages during these dates? It is most likely that the marriage took place in a Catholic Church. The couple lived on Amsterdam Ave. Many thanks in advance. 3. Dear LIST I have just obtained from the DHHMH a death certificate for a friend's Great Uncle. We have discovered from the cert. that he was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Queens on March 18 1950. Has anyone any experience as to how to obtain further information about his grave - whether there is a headstone - who else might be buried there etc. I have a phone number for Calvary...but I just wondered whether anyone has ever called or got further information from there. Many thanks in advance. Fiona. IGP County Down Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~nirdow2/

    3. The IGG web site does not have a database for births. If the county of birth is known, a request for a search and birth certificate can be submitted directly to the New York City archives. The state of New York does not have vital record information for the City. An alternative is to rent, from through your local LDS Family History Center, a microfilm index of births. The index will contain the certificate number which you can get by renting the microfilm containing the certificate or order directly from Salt Lake. -------------------------------------------------- From: <patie124@comcast.net> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 10:26 PM To: <nynewyor@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [NYNEWYOR] NY /1905/ Leah Olivia Bryant /Cert # > I went to that site ,but I did not find any link for birth cert. #'s > > pat > > -------------- Original message -------------- > From: cheap@simon.com > >> "You can get the certificate number at Italiangen.org web site and click >> on >> a link there >> to get an application to send in to the Municipal Archives for a copy of >> the certificate." >> >> I didn't know italiangen had birth certificates, Thanks for the info. >> >> Thanks, >> Carol L. 3. Fiona, I'm unaware of any marriage indexes for that time period. However, if you'd like to post the couple's names to the list, I'd be glad to check marriage announcements in the NYTimes.
