    3. Dear Sharilyn: To make a complicated geographical situation a bit simpler, the whole of the peninsula from Manhasset to Roslyn was considered "Cow Neck." Port Washington being the largest commercial area on the neck. If you get out your Hagstroms (and I assume everyone has a modern version of this great map), you'll see that Manhasset is on the west of the peninsula and Roslyn is on the east. Everything north of where those bodies of waters that come in as harbors to meet Manhasset or Roslyn are the dividing lines between the "neck" of Cow Neck and everything south of it. Manhasset Bay to the West and Hempstead Harbor to the East. There used to be (literally) a fence that kept the cows up on the peninsula but there were also occupants very early on. Best regards.
