He got the middle name from his god father Barney Votypka. Mr. Votypka was listed as his sponsor along with Louisa Miller on his baptismal papers.     3. Dear Nancy, I searched the 1920 census and found Marie Votypka as head of the household living on a farm on Woodbury Road in Hicksville. The children listed are BARNEY, 25, Justin, 22, Helen, 15, Anna, 12 and Josephine, 9. There is no mention of the father. Have you written to St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church on Broadway, 11801? They were most helpful to me. It did take a little time because the secretary who does that research is a part-time employee. The name sounds familiar because my mother was born in Hicksville in 1914 and so was I, many years later. Sadly she is deceased because of cancer or she would be able to tell me about the family. I do have an aunt who still lives in Hicksville and I shall write her a letter and ask if she can offer any help.
