The Wood family abouds in Hempstead from the beginning in the 1600's, but I am stuck trying to make the connection back from John Wood (1774 - 1853). I've got a decent lead, but not all the puzzle peices fit! Anyway......Your Richard Totten, his wife Sarah A. and possibly Richard's sister-in-law or mother, Elizabeth (it mentions that Elizabeth was the wife of Jacob Totten and the age seems to fit that maybe they were Richard's parents????)are buried in The Jerusalem Society of Friends Cemetery in Wantagh (pronounced Wan-taw). Check out the two links below. Seems like the cemetery is still there! So...they were Quakers. That is a very good lead and you may find more info. about their family in the Quaker meeting minutes (probably the Jericho meetings). I have seen these books in the Queens County Library, but don't know if they are on the internet or on Microfilm thru the LDS. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mfox7/jerusalemfriends.html http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mfox7/Jerusalem2.html Good luck in your research. -Janet Wood
