    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lRB.2ACE/892.2 Message Board Post: You may have to check the Jamaica Town Records also, if you haven't done so. Perhaps a third of Fosters Meadow was within Jamaica (current Rosedale, part of Springfield, Laurelton and Cambria Heights) and the remainder constitutes part of Valley Stream and part of Elmont, generally south of the Hempstead Turnpike. A William Foster had a parcel of land in the 1680s at Fosters Meadow east of the Fosters River (probably now the creek west of Rosedale) in the bounds of Jamaica. A William Foster also had meadow land along the Haw Tree Path adjoining the land of Henry Foster's children in Jamaica. This apparently was somewhere along the southerly end of Hawtree Creek Road in what is probably now JFK Airport land just to the east of Old Howard Beach William Foster was a patentee of Jamaica and he apparently had early ties to Gravesend in Kings County. There are 2 different names circa 1680s for spouse of William - Jane and Ann. Were there 2 men named William Foster? If you follow Walter's advice, the L.I. Studies Institute should have the Town Records for Jamaica.
