In his book "Cemeteries in Kings and Queens Counties..." dated 1913, William Eardeley writes about an "old cemetery formerly called Fosters Meadow... not far from Belmont Park, near district 15 Public School House near to Elmont Hook and Ladder Company..." Eardeley also separately lists St Johns Methodist Cemetery; the two are decidely separate and different from one another. Also, my memory (which hasn't been working well lately) recalls that Old Fosters Meadow Cemetery is currently within Maimonides Cemetery in Elmont, but may not be readily accessible. Lyle Hendrickson
My Great Grandfather Frank Schreiber died in 1899... according to his death certificate that I received from the Town of Hempstead, he is buried in Springfield Cemetery... I have yet not been able to locate this cemetery.... Anyone have a clue where this cemetery might be? BTW, I am related to Eugene, George, Minnie, Frances, and Edna White... George and Edna (Brother and Sister) were custodians at Lynbrook High School in the 1940-60's. Eugene aka Gene lived on Cottage Street in Valley Stream...
