The Robbins family lived in Baldwin. Dad was Walter, cannot remember the mothers name, son was Walter and daughter Karen. They relocated to Florida many years ago. THe Walter Robbins you mentioned would be about 48 years old now. ----- Original Message ----- From: rich bukowski <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 11, 2002 9:21 AM Subject: [NYNASSAU] robbins, robins in new jersey, and fhl 0523272 film > a friend here in south florida was looking for robbins > in ny, nj and li, i started to help her , now I have a > few , so thought I would send.the following are from > the above film > Robbins, Walter, head 48, life saving station, Fannie, > wife, Nellie, dau 20, grocery clerk-cashier > ROBBINS, Ida head, house keeper, on Garfild place , > possible east rockaway or hewlett > ROBBINS, Arthur H. 33, head Printer, > Agnes c. 33, > Ralph A. 6, > Ruth, 4 > Grace 2. > ROBBINS, Howard 68, Hannah 68, Josie H. 30, Park Place > in Lynbrook > listed again in another place? did the enumerators do > this house twice .ROBBINS, Harrasld, head 68, Hannah > Wife, 68, Josie H. dau on park place in Lynbroook. > Our LDS has very limited hours in the summer, so I sor > t of rushed thr this film, jotting waht I could I may > have missed and probl. did a few robbins. valerie in > florida > ROBBINS, Matthew, 68, carpenter, Mary A, wife, 58, > Mira 27 assistant village clerk, William 25 plumber, > Frances dau. 22,Mildred dau 20 > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > HotJobs - Search Thousands of New Jobs > http://www.hotjobs.com > > > ==== NYNASSAU Mailing List ==== > Please visit the NEW Nassau County NYGenWeb Page: > http://www.rootsweb.com/~nynassau/ > We are in search of Nassau & LI Records/Material for the new page. > Please help by sending your submissions to [email protected] THANKS! > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lRB.2ACE/414.1 Message Board Post: On 8/22/02 (5:18:10 PM EDT), in an eMail Gatewayed from the Nassau County Board to the Nassau County List ([email protected]), Marilyn ([email protected]) asks, "My great grandfather owned a home on East Shore Drive Great Neck Long Island. He is listed as being there in 1920 census. He died a year after he sold the property. I would like to know where I can find out more about this home , If it is still standing. My mother told my of her fond memories of the place. He was Willard Lyman Candee, wife Amelia. Would like to find out more about their life in Great Neck. I am doing Genealogy. Since started after mother died have few answers and live in Louisiana." Your first stop may well be at the Great Neck Library: Great Neck Library 159 Bayview Avenue Great Neck, NY 11023 tel: 516/466-8055 eMail: [email protected] http://www.nassaulibrary.org/gneck/ Great Neck is one of those communities on Long Island where the majority of the places with a Great Neck mailing address are not in Great Neck. The pertinent geography: Great Neck is a village (incorporated in 1921) in the northwestern part of the Town of North Hempstead. There are 30 villages and 18 hamlets (unincorporated areas) all or partly in the Town of North Hempstead. There are 2 cities and 3 towns in Nassau County. (I'm including after my name a NYS Geographic Glossary with the NYS definitions of county, city, town, village, hamlet and postal zone.) Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Village of Great Neck in the Town of North Hempstead is bordered on the north by the Village of Kings Point; on the east by Hempstead Harbor; on the south by the Hamlet of Great Neck Gardens, the Villages of Great Neck Estates and Saddle Rock; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Saddle Rock Estates and the Village Kings Point. And, as occurs in all but one of Nassau County's 136 communities (2 cities, 64 villages and 70 hamlets), the Village of Great Neck has a different border than does the "Great Neck, NY" postal zone (i.e., a place can have a Great Neck mailing address and not be in Great Neck). ...................................................acres ........Village of Great Neck..............866 ........Great Neck, NY...................6,022* * This includes the 4 postal stations (branches) that are part of the Great Neck Post Office: ........Great Neck, NY 11020...........1,405 ........Great Neck, NY 11021...........1,314 ........Great Neck, NY 11023...........1,098 ........Great Neck, NY 11024............2,205 Thus, more than 8 out of every 10 places with a "Great Neck, NY" mailing address are NOT in the Village of Great Neck. Quickly eyeballing the map overlay of the "11020 through 11024" postal ZIP codes versus village and hamlet borders, the following 13 communities (9 villages and 4 hamlets) seem to be at least partially within the borders of the "Great Neck, NY" postal zone and hence places in these communities can have a "Great Neck, NY" mailing address (if the community is a village, its year of incorporation is shown inside the parenthesis): ......................................................acres Village of Great Neck (1921).................866 Village of Great Neck Estates (1911).....489 Hamlet of Great Neck Gardens................* Village of Great Neck Plaza (1930)........199 Hamlet of Harbor Hills.............................* Village of Kensington (1921)..................156 Village of Kings Point (1924)...............2,125 Village of Lake Success (1927)...........1,205 Village of Russell Gardens (1931)..........109 Village of Saddle Rock (1911)................169 Hamlet of Saddle Rock Estates...............* Village of Thomaston (1931)..................270 Hamlet of University Gardens...................* * The Hamlets of Great Neck Gardens, Harbor Hills, Saddle Rock Estates and University Gardens total 596 acres. For those who have their copy of the 2001 LI Population Survey or have already downloaded the report from the Long Island Power Authority web site (eMail me directly if you need instructions on how to access and download the report), you'll find the Village of Great Neck (incorporated in 1921) in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County on pages 5 & 6 (map) and 7 (population estimate). I hope this information is useful or, at least, interesting. Regards, Walter Greenspan Cities, Towns, Villages, Hamlets and Postal Zones in New York State New York State is divided into counties. County A county is a municipal corporation, a subdivision of the state, created to perform state functions; a "regional" government. All counties are divided into cities, towns and Indian reservations. City A city is a unique governmental entity with its own special charter. Cities are not sub-divided, except into neighborhoods, which are informal geographic areas. Town A town is a municipal corporation and encompasses all territory within the state except that within cities or Indian reservations. Towns can be sub-divided into villages and hamlets. Village A village is a general purpose municipal corporation formed voluntarily by the residents of an area in one or more towns to provide themselves with municipal services. The pattern of village organization is similar to those of a city. A village is divided into neighborhoods, which are informal geographic areas. Hamlet A hamlet is an unincorporated area in one or more towns that is governed at-large by the town(s) it is in. A hamlet is divided into neighborhoods, which are informal geographic areas. Postal Zone "City" and "Town" A postal zone "City" and "Town" is an administrative district established by the U.S. Postal Service to deliver the mail. Postal zone "City" and "Town" may not (but are encouraged to) conform to municipal or community borders. Thus, postal zone location does not always determine city, village or hamlet location. Please be aware: In many areas of New York State, the problem of non-conforming postal zones leads to a situation where the majority of places have a different community name in their mailing address than the community where that place is actually located.

my grandfather was albert norman Kenzel, half brother to James, william, charles and possible John., full brother to walter. Their father was charles washington Kenzel born manhattan ca 1827 and died brooklyn Nov. 17, 1897. Charles died brooklyn 1900 and james died brooklyn 1920's. I am looking for parents of Charles W. Kenzel, may be charlotte merkle Carr and John simon Kenzel, but have no proof. Charlotte died astoria, buried woodlawn 1892. Albert died 1966 in lynbrook, and I think walter died lynbrook 1933, everyone buried at greenwood. Albert was lettercarrier for lynbrook for 30 yrs. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? HotJobs - Search Thousands of New Jobs http://www.hotjobs.com

Hi there I have it that GENE HARRIS last lived in HEWLETT, NEW YORK. Please see SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH INDEX below. I am wondering if this GENE HARRIS is the GENE HARRIS who was married to CHRISTINA MCRAE whose father was DONALD MCRAE b. 1856 of Ontario, Canada. Donald McRae's father Archibald McRae born 1829 was brother to my grgrgrandfather Findlay McRae all of Ontario Canada. I am doing genealogy of the McRae family and am interested in contacting any descendants of this family. Also, Christina Harris wrote a letter which I have in 1941 and at that time she lived at 303 1/2 Wyoming Street, Syracuse, NY. In the letter she mentions her brother Lester McRae of Cornwall Ontario. Chrsitina's family appears below the SSDI mentioned above. Thanks so much for reading this and I look forward to hearing from anyone who may know of this family.
