This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Sweezy's -- stillborn - Where are their parents?? Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lRB.2ACE/434 Message Board Post: Consistently I've found that when a child is stillborn or even a year or little less, there are no parents listed for the child at death at the cemetery. Why is that??? Often times, there is no date of birth for the children born alive but may have died soon after. Why is that??? I'm tired of trying to analyze the reasons why these children seemingly are forgotten in time. Lastly, if I were to request a death certificate on a child who HAS a name, will I actually be able to get parents listed on a death certificate? Would there be a death certificate for a stillborn?? Please, please, if anyone can help with this query, I'd be very grateful.
I'd like to plug Heritage Quest (1-800 760-2455) . If you have problems or lack of time to visit a LDS library, this may be the answer. For me the web is a major pain! Repeated illegal shut downs, combined with toll call conections. Membership with bimonthly magazine is $29.95. The have EVERY US CENSUS roll on CD, in its' original form complete with "digitial" reader. You can print out the original census page. Rolls to members sell for $14.95 each nonmembers cost $19.95 each. The have available 1910 and 1870 census indexes, that can be sorted by EVERY FIELD! This has proven a wonderful asset for searching nieghbors and nearby relatives. In addition on their web site the 1930 census is indexed by state, city and street location. I recenty reccieved rolls T626 - 1459 & 1460 for 1930 census. They also will provide an 1870 soundex CD by surname for the same price as the census rolls, this has helped when the name SHORT was spelled SCHORT and similar misspellings. But without a doubt the 1880 WHOLE NATION census index and actual census from the LDS all on 50 CDs in a nice binder for $49.00 (1-800 537-5971) is the best buy of all that anyone can not afford to be without. I'd also like to say that I feel the Broderbund "World Family Tree Bundles" are a waste of money, further most of their indexes are over priced and leave a lot to be deesired, however pre 1870 they are about tthee only game in town. You need that site if you plan on doing serious research. www.genealogy.com is pretty good for the 1900 census index too. There are 100's of sites but only a handful are worth it. Keep plugging away, you'll get addicted. Tony

Does anyone know how court record lookups are done in Mineola, NY? Do they do it for a fee, or are you free to go in and look something up yourself? I'd rather do it in person, or have someone do it for me, because I can't get there myself (I'm a caregiver), but I'd order a copy if I had to. It would be about an adoption, before adoption records were sealed. I'm told that SOMETIMES the info is still available in the records back in 1932 when the adoption was finalized. Actually, I think we know the mothers name, and baby's name at birth in 1930. I'm hoping to get more info, and I guess verify what we have. If anyone knows how it's done, or can help me, let me know. Thanks joanne [email protected]

I have been looking for the Maringello family ... I did find them in Manhasset on Highland Terrace. in the 1930 Census 30-173 Name was Thomas Maringello, wife Rose, Children Mary and Susan. I also found them in the 1920 SD 5 ED. 76 page 10BCensus also in Manhasset, on Highland Terrace,, The name was was written Gaetano Morincello,, wife Rose, Children Josephine, Mary Now I am having a problem finding them in the 1910 and 1900 Census... (Thomas(Gaetano) Maringello was married before and had other children before he married Rose.1917..So now most of the names could change including the Last name that seems easy to mis spell.. ...Well I would appreciate a bit of help on this one.. Now it is possible he could have lived in Brooklyn in the 1900's..I'm am not sure of the time period....he moved to Nassau. I appreciate any help,,Thank You, Lauretta

Clara (Neff) Kessell was murdered in Baldwin Harbor (we think) in the course of a burglary or robbery of her home. Supposedly she was beaten to death in her bed. We don't know if a suspect was apprehended or not. We don't know the date but have been told that this occurred in the late 1950's. She lived at Baldwin Harbor. Her husband, Eddie, owned a bar in Queens. To our knowledge she had no children. We aren't sure if Clara and Eddie were even still married to each other when she died. Clara was my great- aunt. If anyone out there even can tell us which direction to turn to get information since our clues are few we will appreciate the assistance. Thanks in advance.
