The Clerk has the Queens County real property records on microfilm for periods prior to 1899, with the originals kept by the Queens County Office of the City Register (located in Jamaica, Queens); Long Island Studies Institute at Hofstra University also has the pre-1899 microfilm. As Walter suggested, contact the village clerk of Freeport - vital records may be on file there or may be kept by the Clerk of the Town of Hempstead.

Circa 1850, the Town of Oyster Bay (including all the villages and hamlets within its borders) was then part of Queens County. Also, on June 15, 1886, the Lloyd's Neck peninsula, otherwise called Horse's Head peninsula, in the extreme northeast part of the then Hamlet of Oyster Bay, Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County was transferred by an Act of the NYS Legislature to the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County. On January 1, 1899, the Town of Oyster Bay (including all the villages and hamlets within its borders), along with the Towns of North Hempstead and Hempstead (excluding the Rockaway peninsula) seceded and became independent of Queens County and formed Nassau County.
