Carol, In my experience Sampubco's copies have been the best you can get with microfilm. Quality is reduced when documents are filmed, and then reduced again when they are printed -- that is unavoidable due to the different ways readers and printers interpret the data (continuous tone vs. pixels). I suspect Sampubco makes the best possible copies he can get (without wasting too much time and money on "test" pages), so that he keeps the customers who try his services. I'd say go for it -- I've always been satisfied. I am not conveniently located near an FHC -- can you please tell me if a person can purchase microfilms of wills to keep permanently? Thanks! Are these copies really clear? The films with these wills are available through the LDS Family History Centers, but some of them don't copy very well, at least on the machine at the FHC where I do my research. If I was sure the copies would be clearer from SamPubCo, then I would ask them for copies that I have seen on film, but can't get good copies. By the way the films cost $3.75 to "rent" for a month at your local FHC. They send your order to Salt Lake FHC and a copy of the film usually arrives within 10 days. It stays at the local FHC for a month. If you need it longer, you can pay an additional $3.50 for it to stay another 2 months, and sometimes you can arrange to have it stay longer if you need it.
