www.SAMPUBCO.com has an index to probate records online for both Fulton and Montgomery Co. and will copy them for a small fee. I checked real quick and didn't see an Ambrose Potter, though there were many Potters listed in Johnstown (whihc incidentally is filed under Fulton Co.) It's worth you checking out. Good luck!
