Do you know his parents and any dates. Karen Hunter >> Karen, I am hopeful that the Frederick Putman, Jr. is my great grandfather, who I believe was really Frederick Putnam III son of Frederick Putman, Jr. The dates and location matches. If so, his parents would be Frederick, Jr. and Margarita (Barnhardt). While there are logical indications of the connection (census information 1810-1870 and a land sale), I am seeking proof of the connection. If the connection proves true, I would have the line back to the Netherlands. If you are interested I could send you more detailed information. If so, may I use your E-mail address as listed. Bob and others, There were a lot of Putmans in Montgomery Co., but I don't know if they were related to Putnams. If so, the following may be of interest. It is from an old book that many list members may not have seen. General Israel Putnam was chief in command of some Hudson River forts including Fort Montgomery. If he was part of your heritage you will want to see this image and perhaps the following ones.
