Dorothy Just wanted to let you know because I do extensive Research with my Business that the Pension Papers will all sound as if the person applying was Dirt Poor (so to say) and unable to live w/o this pension. However, in most cases all Real and Personal Property was given previously to the oldest of one of the sons and it is the only way they could collect the pension. It was based on their financial status, or otherwise they could not get the Pension. Let's face it they did not hire Case Workers back then either to check each one out. Just a local person would sign on their behalf. In the case of the wife applying nothing was ever in the woman's name anyhow, as the oldest son had it all and she could almost always collect. There are many cases where I know they could not of been that poor so I believe that is what happened. Also, I note you use the McNitt rather than the McNutt version or Spelling. But I have seen it several ways. Pat
