    1. [NYMONTGO] Montgomer County Alms House, Glen, NY
    2. Hi All, I have a question that someone out there may have some valuable insight on. My G-G-G-Grandparents (Benjamin and Catherine Spencer Nihoff), were "inmates" in the Montgomery County Alms House in Glen, New York for about the last ten years of their lives. They both died somewhere around 1870. They are both listed as "Paupers" on the 1860 census at the Alms house in Glen. First, does anyone know where the site of this "poor house" was located? Second, would there be any records at all about this place and if so, where would they be? Third, when someone died while "residing" there, how were their bodies disposed of? (Unmarked graves somewhere? Is there a cemetery somewhere in Glen that has the remains of all of these people that resided there?) Finally, what kind of death records exist from around that time period? I hope someone has some thoughts on this...its been a big question in my mind for a long time. Thank you in advance for any ideas or answers, Nelson Ambridge NAmbr73595@aol.com
