I have information on the DUFEL family and maternal lines. 5 siblings came from Hille, Westphalia, Germany between 1864 and 1896 and located in the Mohawk valley: Christian who moved on to Iowa, married Wilhelmina BRANDHORST Marie (married Gustov DEZUR) and lived in Town of Florida, then Ft. Johnson area Louise (Married Charles BOOK) and lived in Niskayuna Henry Carl (owned the existing Dufel farm in Tribes Hill) married Wilhelmina KRUSE Frederick Carl (also farmed in Tribes Hill area), married Caroline THIENER (Thuener?) If any one is tracing any of these families, I would enjoy trading info, including info on their ancestry in Germany. Gary Dufel duf@ntplx.net

Still looking for my Revolutionary War ancestor. Died in 1818 or1821. Who were his children? Thanks Dorothy
Hi Jerry, I can't help you very much, but there was a John Twist, age 60 & born in CT living in Mohawk, Montgomery County, NY in the 1855 NY State Census. There was also a Titus Twist who was 25 and born in Ohio. Both of these persons were living together. There were no women in the household. My GGGrandfather Sylvanus Twist , married to Phebe Barber in 1827, was listed in the 1840 census as living in Amsterdam, Montgomery, NY. I am interested to know if anyone has run across information concerning him or his family, to what church Sylvanus might have belonged, or who his parents might have been. Thanks to all. I thought that since many are descendants or the Palatines of 1709/1710 that you may want to check out the following page for some baptisms. Don't forget to go to the other links for more dates. Randy, The messages are the same as you receive individually. They were sent in Digest Mode that sends messages in groups instead of as individual messages. Did that make sense? Hi: I am new to this site and have a question on 2 families that I am related to and therefore am researching. I would like help on researching the SALAMACK and JULIANO familles. If someone says that they can help me (I hope so) I will give you further information. I need the help from the years 1930 - 1960. Some of that is filled in already but for certain areas like who the wife was of someone, birth, death, date, city. Any help anyone can give I would be most grateful for. I was born in Montgomery County (Amsterdam, NY in the East End of the City) Thank you, Joe Salamack 11 Lark St Amsterdam, NY (that was my former address) JPsala@aol.com

Darci, As I understand it, my immigrant ancestor was John/Johann Christian Garlock, son of Hans Garlock/Gerlock arrived at West Camp in 1710 from Queen Ann's Camp in England, eventually the family claimed land in the Stone Arabia Patent. Steven Garlick left the Mohawk Valley for Providence, Bedford, PA where his son, David Gaston joined the Mormon Church and moved West. Evidently they were called Garlick in PA and David's descendants are all Garlick. I left a big gap here, but it is a rough outline of my Garlicks. I have several questions on this line. I do have some cemetery records and other records, but am hesitant to state anything as definite - the name change and christianization of the names makes it difficult to follow the line. I also have a "legend" about an indian medicine woman/princess in my line. I sure would like to verify I have some Mohawk blood. But, I know that I better not count on it. I took a quick look at your page and will study it in depth after work. Thank you. Dear List, Does anyone have access to city directories for Amsterdam? If so, would you be willing to do a lookup for me? I am interested in any information I can find on Tadas SALDIS or Benjamin SALDIS between @ 1900 and 1910. It would be a big help and greatly appreciated! Thanks, Sandy P.S. Sorry if this is a duplicate. I first sent it very close to the time I subscribed and don't know if I got the timing right.
Hi folks! I'm new to the Montgomery County list and seeking information about the THORP family of Charleston & Root. Ebenezer THORP, was born about 1792 and is listed in a History of Herkimer County as a pioneer settler of Root, Montgomery County. I suspect he may be related to Abner THORP who died at age 105 in Charleston. Ebenezer moved in tandem with a John THORP in early census records. On 24 October 1824, Ebenezer was married to Martha Ann YOUNG (record says "N.," census says "Ann") by the Rev. Elijah Herrick of the Baptist Church of Charleston. I don't know who her parents were. In 1850, Ebenezer and Martha were enumerated in the town of Root, near their son Joshua's home. Ebenezer, died 9 August 1860 age 68, and wife Martha, 4 January 1858 age 60, are both buried with their daughter Mary in Rural Grove Cemetery, town of Root, Montgomery Co., New York. Their children were: 1.Joshua, born about 1825; married Catherine SHULL and was supposedly in the Civil War, and a successful teacher/lecturer. She died in 1850 and was buried in Rockwood Cem., Ephratah, Fulton County. Their descendants lived in Little Falls, Herkimer County until a few years ago. 2.Hannah, born about 1826 in New York 3.Hope A., born about 1826 in New York 4.Mary (C.?), born about 1834 in New York, died 1853, buried with her parents in Rural Grove Cemetery, town of Root, Montgomery Co., New York. I'd appreciate ANY leads! If interested, please visit my website and learn more about the Thorps of Montgomery & Herkimer Counties at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/welcome.html Thanks!
