    1. Re: [NYMONTGO] Andrew McNutt/McNitt
    2. Hi Dorothy, I recently had a microfilm for the Mayfield Reformed Church in Fulton County, NY. If I recall correctly, I think that there was a McNitt family listed someplace in those records. The microfilm covers the years from 1796 to the mid 1800s. Do a search on familysearch.org for your names. Richard Hayes >From the shores of Grand Traverse Bay RchrdHayes@aol.com

    1. [NYMONTGO] Andrew McNutt/McNitt
    2. Andrew was a Rev. soldier , and stayed in NY at its close. He lived for a while on the Mohawk at Canandaighua, and left after a flood. Anyone know the dates of floods there around 1790-1820? He moved then to Northampton now in the county ofFulton. He had a second wife, Esther, age 52 in 1819, and Esther had a daughter 15, (b. 1804). Andrew was a brother of the many boys of Alexander McNutt/McNitt of Salem, Washington County, New York; Alexander, Deacon John, John, James, etc. I would like to know the names of his children and when wife No. 1 died--Abigail Harmon. She was from New Marlborough, Berkshire County, Ma. Andrew was born in Pelham, Hampshire County, MA about 1750. Thanks Dorothy

Many collegiate libraries have them, in addition to the NY State Archives. However, Sir William died before the Revolutionary War. A reference to "Johnson's Army" in a Revolutionary War context would probably refer to the troops commanded by his son, Sir John, and they were clearly part of the British side of things. Another possibility is that Owen McGraw served under Sir William during the so-called French & Indian Wars. Tom Johnston thomas.johnston@worldnet.att.net

    3. Hi, Pat, Sir William Johnson brought in many Scots to live in his area, in the Mohawk Valley. That was pre-Rev. The diaries and journals of Sir William have been published. Your people may show up in the indexes. Nancy

    3. Bob, They didn't go anywhere, at least not for awhile. They stayed in the Kinderhook area for at least another four years and had a child Magdalena bp. at the same church. Bp. 11 Sep 1768. Magdalena, of Hendrick Buys and Eva Cool. Wit. Gysbert Scherp, Magdalena Buys. Although many families moved west from Columbia Co., even to other states, Magdalena was the fifth child in 11 years, so maybe they stayed in Kinderhook but had no more children. If you don't have the earlier children who were born in Dutchess Co., let me know and I will send you details. Bye and Cool appear in my tree. Do Pieter Barentsz Cool (md. c. 1670 Janneke Dingman) or Helena Dirkse Bye (md. Samuel Jacobse Gardenier) show up in your records? Cliff ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Robert A. 2. Kathy Behling
    3. Hello listers - Does anyone know where I might find land purchase records? Charles Fisher is in Charlestown in 1810 in Montgomery co. I think he's married to my Polly Hilton, but I need to find out where they went after 1810. Can anybody help? Polly's father, David Hilton, moved the rest of his family to Ogden, Monroe co., but Polly & her husband appear to have stayed there. I'm hoping that by tracing their land purchases I can find their decendents. Can anyone help?

    3. Hi, Bob, What's the name of the ongoing series on Dutchess County, NY? I can't think of the author, but I'm sure the Buys family is in the first or second volume. Cool might be in one of the books, but I don't think the author is as far as Kool, the earlier spelling. Perhaps someone can give you a full citation of the author's name, which I don't have handy. 1. [NYMONTGO] Fall meeting - New York Chapter, Palatines to America meeting --
    2. diefsea
    3. Just out -- from Mrs. Eila Schiffer - "Yorker Palatine " editor - Mrs. Schiffer will have more on this in mid-July, including reservation details. Her address is: 9666 Elpis Road, Camden, NY 13316. The Fall meeting will be at Ephrata, NY, at SALTSMAN'S. A dandy spot for a meeting! "Saltsman" is a well-known Palatine name. The meeting will be 30 September. It's a cinch to find -- After going north through Palatine Bridge on Rte 10, pass the two famous Stone Arabia churches, proceed until you get to Ephrata. When you get to Ephrata - the road jogs to the right -- but if you don't jog, you'll find it at the jog straight ahead - about 50 feet. From Palatine Bridge to Ephrata - about eight miles. randy
