Can I invite all (some) of you to submit one - two or as many newspaper articles, from your own county collection of newspapers Lets see if we can get every county on the map of N. Lisa: Could you please do a look up for me in the Historyof Montgomery and Fulton Counties, NY. Andrew McNitt/McNutt lived in Northville--well actually at Fish House a Rev. Soldier, died in 1821. His wife # 2 was Esther Miller? Esther was a widow with a daughter of 15 or so in 1818. Wife # 1 was Abigail Harmon and she must have died around 1800. He lived near a William McNutt/McNitt who lived across the county line in Saratoga County NY. Does the book say anything about these people? Thanks very much for looking this up for me. I'm looking for the Natola family. I don't know much about them except that my great uncle Bob lived in Fultonville, NY. My biological grandfather was George and I never knew him. It would be nice to know more about them _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Forgot to tell eveybody that my tape with the histories of Montgomery and Fulton Co also contains the History of Jefferson Co NY from earliest period to 1854, by Franklin B Hough. I know that Montgomery Co was closely related to Jefferson Co as many people moved from there to Jefferson Co. I expect it was the same for Fulton Co. I would be happy to do lookups for Jefferson co. also. Hello list - I am looking for any reference to David Hilton who lived in the Charleston area between 1790 & 1830. David Hilton was a Baptist.(at least his kids all were) and he was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He received no bounty land, because he served in Capt. Josiah Whitney's regiment, and trying to track this guy is driving me crazy! I hope someone can help me. David Hilton had 8 kids, some of whom married in the Charleston area. Their spouses' names were John NEWMAN, DANIEL WHITNEY, HANNAH BLACK, JOHN GOULD & EUNICE NELSON. And, of course I'm looking for David HILTON. So far, I've been unsuccessful in finding these folks until after they moved to Monroe County about 1835. Thank you for your time and I'll keep my fingers crossed! -Kathy

Hi Mark, Yes, the church is still standing. The Charleston Historical Society maintains the building and has programming there. I don't believe they do research but you can contact Lorraine Whiting, the historian for the Town of Charleston at Box 741 Corbin Hill Rd., Esperance, NY 12066, 518-922-5867. Kelly A. Yes this book does cover from the very earliest periods ( Indians and first inhabitants ) up until about 1880, I believe, when it was published. Now I could be confusing it with several other books I have on tape with the ending time period but I do know that all of them cover the very beginnings of each county, and early 1800 is well covered. I should have a chance to look at it later on today. Hi, I am brand new to this list, and I would like to know what time period this book covers. I have just started researching my husband's side of the family - unfortunately their surname is the ultra common SMITH. I've got a William Smith born about 1840 in Amsterdam (or so family lore says), and his father John, who was possibly born in that area. John may have immigrated from England. Would this book cover that time frame - early 1800's? Any help or advice appreciated. Michele
I got my copy from: Heritage & Genealogical Society of Montgomery County Old Court House Fonda, NY 12068 This was about 1981 when they had this book reprinted. Cost then was $35. Hope this helps. I had a cousin look up my Samuel Reese in those files this is what he wrote me back by the way this Samuel Reese would be a cousin or ours. Hi Karen, I checked this one out today and don't think he's ours. The record date is Nov 27th 1808 and this Samuel was born Oct 1, 1808. This seems much too late for our Samuel, if we are to believe his census records. His parents were Henry Reese and Elizebeth Rickard. There is, however, an interesting coincidence. Baptized in the same year were Betsy, born 4th of July to Frederick Putman jr and Margeret Bernhardt, and Cathrine, daughter of John Putman and Elizebeth Wagoner. If you are interested, I'll give you the citations and page number of the source Ken At 10:53 AM 08/22/2000 -0400, you wrote: > I have found the name of Frederick Putman, Jr., the list.
