Hi, Does anyone know if there is/was a Cramer cemetery in Herkimer or Montgomery County? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve Cromer scromer@earthlink.net
With all you already have received, dare I ask for one more?? I am interested in the name ROSCO/E sometimes also spelled RUSCO/E. The final "e" in either spelling seems to be added and dropped at will. Several of the family were born in Montgomery County in the early part of the 1800s. Thank you for your generous offer. Sincerely, Kathy S.
Lisa, We do appreciate your taking time to do this. Would you mind checking to see if John and Susan (Shirley) Potter are listed. I believe Susan died before 1790 as there is only one female listed on the 1790 Montgomery Co. census. They had a dau. She would have been the female. The Daughter, Ann married John Geer. Thanks a bunch. Evelyn Vohland
Lisa, Is it possible to purchase a copy of the Index? Jean C.
Wow. I have received a ton of requests for lookups. It is exciting to see how many of you are researching your ancestors! Please bear with me and I will try to get to your requests asap. Hopefully no later than the end of this week. Each one is important to me and I am looking forward to being able to do this! Lisa Ecker
Janet, I have already checked my new index for your names and I am sorry to say that I did not find them on there. Hi Lisa, Do you happen to have any families in the sketches of the DYE, STEELE, SATTERLEE, WELCH families. I would be grateful for any information on them if there is any. Thanks for your consideration! Hi Lisa. I greatly appreciate you offering your time and resources. When you find the time, I am trying to find data on the BARNES family that resided in the Montgomery/Herkimer areas. Specifically, Norway, Newport, Ames, Canajoharie, and Sprout Brook areas. Some of the other surnames are MILLER, SMITH, SNYDER, KENNEDY, VAN EVERA, SHAUT, MARKEL, MAILLEFERT, and BELLMAN. Thank you once again. Hello Lisa, Would there be anything listed for the Siebe family? My gret-grandfather was a cigar maker in Amsterdam and his daughters worked in the mills. The Siebe girls married the Droege and Schutte. Lisa, you checked for my Slack and Falls families earlier and found nothing. Could you check for John Voorhees/ Voorhis. He purchased portions of the Slack Farm from the heirs of Benajah Slack, and one of these parcels bordered on land owned by Benjamin Fall. Thanks Mary Mary Slack Maynard Researching Slack, Gregory, Hopper, Bigelow/Bigalow, Nichols, Dunning, Mead, Fish in NY and New England Perry in CT Nash, Maginn/McGinn, Donahue, Vokes in NY and Ireland, Aird and Crombie in NY and Scotland People will accept your ideas much more readily if you tell them that Benjamin Franklin said it first. Hi Lisa, Please check the index for Whitbeck and Witbeck. Thank you. Janet
I have posted some information about Dutch-born persons recorded in US censuses for 1870, 1880, 1890, 1900, 1920, and 1960. Censuses prior to 1870 did not ask about country of birth. For each year, I give the US total population, the Dutch-born total population in the US (information from some states not available, however), the total NY population, the total Dutch-born population in NY, the number of Dutch-born people in the NY counties containing the highest numbers of Dutch-born, and the number of Dutch-born in the counties covered by my website. To access this information, go to my website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clifflamere/ In the Table of Contents, click on Censuses. The article you are looking for is the first one, "Dutch in NY Censuses 1870-1960". Cliff
