    1. [NYMONTGO] Roll Call - From List Monitor
    2. branagak
    3. There has been a request for a roll call on the NYMONTGO list. For those of you who are not familiar with roll calls, they tend to fill up the inbox fast and furious as everyone comes out of the woodwork to respond with their connections to the Montgomery County, NY, area. I do not object to the roll call, but want to warn people that if they find the influx of emails excessive, they should unsubscribe for about a week or so, and then resubscribe after the emails peek. Instructions follow: UNSUBSCRIBE? Send the message UNSUBSCRIBE to: NYMONTGO-L-request@rootsweb.com or .... NYMONTGO-D-request@rootsweb.com for DIGEST Make sure you turn off any signatures, and do not type anything else in the message. Let the roll call begin . . . Kim Branagan List Monitor

    1. [NYMONTGO] Lookups I'm doing for "Outlines"
    2. darci
    3. Hi. Since I offered to look up names in the book Outlines of History, Montgomery Co. 1772-1972, (205 pages) I've had a good response. This is where I'm at: Although there are 4 pages of indexed names, I found over 105 references of other names listed throughout the book that were not in the index. I plan to go over the book again by the weekend. A thought for the list: Is it time to begin the "roll call" of surnames again? A handy reference when reading material and I've noticed other lists starting their updates again. New list members might be intersted also. Darci

    2. Cliff Lamere
    3. Darci, Thank you for the generous offer. I am studying the entire surname Gardenier, Gardinier Gardineer, and Gordinier, but NOT Gardiner or Gardner. I don't expect you to look up a bunch of names for me. What would help would be to know the number of entries in the index so that I know if it is worthwhile looking for the book in a library. Thanks for your time. Cliff darci wrote: > I was lucky to receive the book "Outlines of History" Montgomery Co. > 1772-1972, by Hugh P. Donlon if anyone needs lookups. 1. [NYMONTGO] Vroomans and Schenectady
    2. Tracy Lawrence
    3. I replied privately to Richard, wasn't sure if anyone on the list would be interested. Silly of me really. I have been fortunate in finding information on Eliza Ann Vrooman. Her parents were Barent H. Vrooman and Maria Smith. Barent died in Montgomery County, and was the son of Volkurt Vrooman and Jannetje Veeder. Jannetje was the daughter of Volkurt Veeder and Marie Hardenburgh. I have a book of the Veeder family which also mentions a lot of allied families. If anyone thinks they may have a connection to this family I will be happy to do lookups. A question about the Vroomans: I bought a Palentines to America book by Adam Vrooman. It was a fictionalized history of the Palentine Germans and mentioned a lot of the early familes of the region that I can verify. There were pictures in the book as well. Is there anyone who knows what was real and what was made up in this book? (It was a great read, by the way). Thanks! And special thanks to Richard who answered my WHH Cook quest! 3. Hi Tracy, In the book you mentioned that you have, did it happen to mention the Steele family. I would be very interested in any information you could share my way. My Steele family is originally from Schenectady and later went to Montgomery & Herkimer Counties. Thank you for your consideration!
