Researching SMITHS (I know, a needle in a haystack) William Smith, born 20 July 1840 to John Smith, in Amsterdam. (no absolute proof of date & place) John may have been born in England. No name for mother, but she was probably born in England. by 1862, William had moved to Detroit, was married to Elizabeth MC BLAIN, born in Buffalo, NY about 1842, and had 3 sons: Charles William, James Durick (Dury), and Thomas Clark. Thanks Michele
I'm researching the family of Frederick FRENCH and Hannah MONTANYE who married in Esperance (Schoharie County) around 1867 and lived in Florida (Montgomery County) in 1880. I'm interested in tracing their descendants. Will share info. Mark Dionne Newton, MA
Researching: Stowitts
I'm researching Winne, or Winn, or Winner, and Becker. >>> <NYMONTGO-D-request@rootsweb.com> 09/28/00 04:14AM >>>
Hi Tracy, I am sending this to the Montgomery and Dutch Colonies lists to get some greater input. Volkje WEMPLE, d/o Jan Barentse WEMPLE and Helen Van TRICHT was married three times. First to Barent H. VROMAN, s/o Hendrick VROMAN and Marritje WEMPLE, in about 1740. They had one child, Alida, bp. 17 Jun 1747 at the Schenectady Reformed Church. Secondly to Jacob Alexander GLEN in about 1748. He died before the baptism of their son Jacob on 16 Apr 1749 in the Schenectady Reformed Church. Thirdly, to Johannes Simonse VROMAN on 8 Dec 1750 also in the Schenectady Reformed Church. Volkje died before the 7 Feb 1760 baptism in the Schenectady Reformed Church of their 4th son Abraham VROMAN. Barent and Volkje are probably the parents of the Hendrick VROMAN who was bp. 16 May 1742 at Fort Henry, NY. My question arises when I see that a Barent VROMAN and Volkje WEMPLE had a son, Myndert VROMAN, baptised in the Caughnawaga Reformed Church on 7 Jan 1759. You also have a Maria VROMAN baptised on 2 Feb 1751 at Trinity Church in NYC. Who are the parents of this Barent VROMAN and Volkje WEMPLE? Cathy, Yes, it is the wife of Philip Estes b. 1748-1749 that I am looking for, and he is the same man, based on age, as the Philip Estes in the 1830 Montgomery Co., NY census. The Ruth you mentioned may be a niece or otherwise related to the (Ruth?) Gage I am looking for. Jacqui
Appreciate any information on the surnames: RIKER/RYKER and VAN BUREN. Thank you in advance. Phyllis M. Jensen e-mail:okpmj@aol.com
Darci, Thanks for your help with lookups. Does the Montgomery County history have a Ruth GAGE? She married Philip ESTES and he appears in the 1830 census there. Jacqui
Darci, Thanks for your kind offer. Is this book indexed? If so would it have any of the following families. If yes, I'll provide more specifics about the individuals ... surname = Wells, Goodrich, Hulshaver, Wagner/Wagoner darci wrote: > I was lucky to receive the book "Outlines of History" Montgomery Co. > 1772-1972, by Hugh P. I find in the "Estes Genealogy" #769 - Philip Estes, son of Richard3, Robert2, Richard1, born in Warwick, RI, February 22, 1749; married ___Gage? Is this the same Philip that was on the 1830 census? I also find Nathaniel Estes, born May 31, 1788 in Duanesburgh, NY, died September 3, 1819; married July 2, 1807, Ruth, daughter of Isaac Gage, (a minister in the society of Friends) and Lydia (Soule) of Duanesburgh; born February 16, 1789; died August 17, 1871. Any relationships to your ancestors? Cathy clauer@oregonvos.net
