Hi. Sending along the following post from the GenWisconsin list, mentions surname FRAME. Wasn't someone on this list looking for that surname also a few months ago? I noticed the Wisconsin area, Green County because some of our ancestors left Madison/Montgomery/Herk. Co areas and settled in this region and I'm following the families on my site. I was asked to repost this message. Since it incorrectly referred to Jefferson County, I was told that some list users might have deleted the message. So here it is, corrected. ..................... This is to let you know that a large pedigree file of interest to many Montgomery County researchers will be available on line very soon, AND to solicit volunteers to help with related tasks. This file will eventually contain all known descendants of certain Snell and Zimmerman immigrants from Germany who arrived in New York in 1710-1711 and settled shortly thereafter in present day Herkimer and Montgomery counties along the Mohawk River. David Kendall Martin and Carolyn Timmerman Sidenius have written a series of books that cover these immigrants and their descendants. The books were published by the Snell-Zimmerman-Timmerman Reunion, Inc. With the permission of SZT, a few volunteers have been extracting information from these books over the past eighteen months. Six books have been completed. While each book was intended to cover a specific portion of the extended SZT family, frequent intermarriage among cousins resulted in some interesting and complex relationships AND a fair amount of duplication of names between books. Therefore, as data from each book is added to the master file, we attempt to identify and merge duplicate entries as much as possible. Each record in the master file will cite the book(s) and page number(s) from which the data was taken. At the present time, the merged file contains over 20,000 individuals, all connected in ONE pedigree that extends from the late 1600s in Germany to the present. Six books have been extracted and merged to date: The Eighteen Century Zimmerman Family, by Martin. The Eighteen Century Snell Family, by Martin The Eighteen Century Failing Family, by Martin Descendants of Peter and Anna Kilts Snell, by Sidenius Descendants of George Timmerman, by Sidenius Descendants of Lawrence Timmerman, by Sidenius Two other Sidenius books, Descendants of Lt. Henry Timmerman and Descendants of David Timmerman, are in progress. Eventually, we will accept additional lines of descent that were not included in the published books. (But not yet, please.) We would welcome any volunteers who wish to assist with extraction OR with a review of the accuracy of the master file. Obviously, review volunteers would have early access to the file. To do either task, volunteers would need to have (1) a copy of one of the above books and (2) any major genealogy software program. It would be especially useful if the volunteer had access to Legacy 2.0. That software allows a second user to make changes to a copy of the master file. When the file is returned, the program highlights changed records and compares the revised data against the original. Otherwise, reviewers could submit written notes about any errors found, while extractors can use any major software. Further details are available upon request. Please do not request "look ups" at this time. My days (and nights) are adequately filled with efforts to get this file on line as soon as possible. Ray Kuehne raykue@sginet.com
Thanks to the marvels of this electronic age, my previous message went out with a reference to "Jefferson County researchers" in the first sentence. Oops!!. Make that "Montgomery County researchers." Sorry. Ray Kuehne

Kelly, Thank you so much for your reply. That definitely does help. Can you tell me if my gggrandfather Theodore P. Davis is listed in that 1886-87 directory? I believe that his wife Mary E. died in Amsterdam but I don't know when. According to the Amsterdam Directory for 1886-87, George Kibbe is listed as a photographer living on Spring Street. Up until 1930 he is listed in the directories residing on Bayard Street, with no occupation referenced. I hope that helps. Kelly A.Yacobucci Assistant County Historian Montgomery Co. Grasping at straws here. The 1790 Columbia cocensus mentions a Henry Fall of Kinderhook, who I believe was married to my great something aunt Elizabeth Slack Falls. In 1790 my Slacks were in Kinderhook as well. The only Henry Fall in 1800 was in Herkimer Co. In 1810 Elizabeth Fall, as well as members of the Slack family, were in Amsterdam, Montgomery Co. Elizabeth's father, Benajah/Beneagah Slack died in 1818, and his will mentions grandchildren Benajah, Mary and Ann Fauls. (the will also mentions another grandson, Nathan Slack who was my ancestor). I find no trace of Benajah Fall/Fauls after 1818. Is it possible that the name Fauls and Foltz were the same? Anyone have ideas. I have just received two old unidentified photos and hope that someone might be able to tell me the time frame that this photographer was in business. The photographs are stamped with the name Geo. Kibbe, No. 6 W. Main St., Amsterdam, NY. My gggrandparents, Theodore P. Davis and Mary E. Foltz were from this area and I am hoping that this might be them. They were both born in the 1820 timeframe and in this picture, both appear to be in their 60's. Thank you for any help that you can give me!! Kathy Jost Shouse
Hi Everyone, I discovered this morning that my computer was infected with a worm that is attached to a file called C:\Cool/Progs/Pretty Park.exe. I personally have not sent any emails; however, it appears that the worm got into my address book and as this email address is in my book, it seems likely that you have been sent the worm as well. DO NOT OPEN ANY EMAIL THAT IS SENT USING MY EMAIL ADDRESS THAT HAS AN ATTACHMENT TO IT. I sincerely apologize for any problems or incoveniences this has caused. The worm apparently got in between the ending of my trial version of the Norton Anti-Virus program last night, and the purchased version I installed this morning. Regrets Hope Chamberlain
Hi all, I am new to this particular list, so I thought I would see what (if anything) anyone may know about my 4th great grandfather, Peleg PETTEYS who was born December 11, 1772 in Charleston. I know that his father was James PETTEYS, but I know nothing more about his parents. I know that Peleg married Martha BROWN on November 30, 1800 in Charleston. I know about their children, etc. What I don't know is if Peleg had siblings, if so, who were they? Are there any books or other information that I may not know about that might have something on Peleg and James and parents, families, siblings, etc.? (I know about all the usual routes). In point of fact, I do not really know much about this surname. I very recently found them..... Thanks in advance for any help! Siobhan Richardson Kimminau Omaha, NE
Hi, I am new to the list. I am researching George Kiltz/Kilts. He settled in Wainfleet, Niagra, Ontario in 1802. On his petition for land he indicates he is from the Mohawk River. He originally settled in Humberstone, Ontario. The Canadian census indicates he was born in New York, and of German nationality. I estimate he may have been born in about 1780. He may have been married to a ? Brock. It is possible that this record from the IGI may actually be him: George Kiltz B: March 15, 1778, Lutheran Trinity Church of Stone Arabia, Palatine, Montgomery Co. New York. Father: Nickolaus Kiltz. I am looking for any suggestions on researching this family in New York. What type of records and information is available on this area? Are the records on film, or in book format? Are there any websites that have suggestions for researching this area? I would also like to find others who may be searching the same name. Thanks for your time, Peg Wisconsin
Hi, Can anyone recommend a good book about the Stone Arabia Patent? I am looking for a history/genealogy book similiar to the one about the Schenectady Patent by Jonathan Pearson & J. W. MacMurray. Thanks, Steve Cromer scromer@earthlink.net

Just joined the list. I have only one line in NY. My direct ancestor moved from Fairfield Co CT to Mohawk Valley NY. He left CT in 1772 but doesn't show up in the NY records until 1785 when he purchases land in the Mohawk Valley-a part of the Klock grant. Family history states he went 1st to VT, then Albany NY, then Oppenheim NY. He & his wife died in Oppenhiem. He & his family are well researched from 1785 on to the present. I have a feeling that he may have been confused with the VT HYDES in the original research as there are many similar names in both groups so he may not have been in VT after all. The years 1772-85 are in question. I have wondered if he was a Loyalist. Family history says he left CT due to a family rift & certainly families were split over their loyalties at that time period. Elihu HIDE/HYDE married Sarah WHEELER (she is probably from the CT WHEELERS & married before leaving) Their 1st child was born CT in Jan 1772. The remainder of the children (8) I do not yet have birth places for. All but 3 of the children ended up in Trumbull Co Ohio. The other 3 remained in Montgomery Co NY. Anyone else know of this group of HYDEs or have any research ideas for the missing time period? Linda Phoenix
