They moved from Rochester out to Rush about 1908 and it was set up with cottages that could handle somewhere between 20 to 30 boys. There is a fairly good web page at: http://www.correctionhistory.org/sheriffs/rochester/html/rochjails_theory1.html I helped deliver a pool table there in the late 1970s and there was a 8 foot fence around the whole complex. In the last 30 years they have been getting harder criminals. When I went past the complex this spring, they now have a 15 foot fence with razor wire on top.
