Author: mandg96691 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12102.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: sds -you may already have--US Census 1860 Monroe County,Sweden, NY lists John Bowles 48, Mary his wife 39; Susan 22;James 19; William 15; Hills 11; Archibald 7 & Bates age 2--all born in Eng except Bates who was born in NY---US Census 1880, Monroe Cty, St Paul St, Rochester, NY Shows Hills Bowles 28, Mary 29(his wife)& John 6;Mattie 4; James 3 & Hills Jr age 1--Same 1880 Census shows Archibald 30, Mary his wife age 33 (born in Germany) & their 11 yr old Amanda all liv on So Clinton Ave, Rochester--US Census 1900 shows a James age 23(born Feb 1877)& his wife Anna 21(born Apr 1879)& their child James Jr age 1 (born May 1899)living w/ Anna's folks in Rochester(cannot read her folks name, looks like Neiman ?)James & Anna reported they had been married 2 yrs---US Census 1900, Jefferson Ave, Rochester shows Richard Bowles 41, born Aug 1858, married 18 yrs to Deborah 46, born Sep 1853 w/ children Arthur born 1883 & Gifford 6, born Nov 1893(they are all still in Roch 1910 & 1920)--h! ad a bit of trouble tracing Susan Bowles BUT the one I found listed her maiden name w/ her married name in US Census of 1880 St Paul St, Rochester where she, age 24, & hubby Andrew E Bastian & their 10 mos old son ____(illegible first name) middle init. of A, were living with Andrew's parents Andrew I & Jane Bastian at their St Paul St home (could this Susan be somehow connected to the original Bowles family ?)---US Census 1920 William Bowles 36, his wife Ivy 29(born in England)& their son George age 5& 1/2 were living on Fitzhugh St in Rochester, NY--hope this may help, Resp, GJ Messmer Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
