How do you believe you are connected to Rufus and Clarissa? Where do you believe you have native american ancestry? The Stevens family is English and Dutch. Research techniques for native american reseach would be the same as anyone else in the United States, until you could find the likely link and a possible tribe. Use the census records to try to trace back. It is likely someone who was native american would show up in one of the census records as non-white at some point in time. Depending upon which census, they may be listed as Indian, Mulatto, Free Colored, etc. Regards, Marjean P.S. I did also send you an email earlier with more information.
