I posted a new web page to the GenWeb of Monroe County website. It is marriages and deaths listed in the Rochester newspapers for the year 1827 (http://mcnygenealogy.com/vr/newspaper-marr-deaths-1827.htm). I had some of those records listed on other web pages but this compilation adds many records that were in other newspapers. And it corrects some previous transcription mistakes. Plus some of the former records left off data like the name of the Minister or other person doing a marriage. I tried to make the records look as close to what they look like in the newspaper. There were a couple of pages that I couldn't read in the Rochester Daily Advertiser. The microfilm was a negative image and way out of focus. Too bad because the original newspapers were destroyed after they were filmed many years ago. Dick

The funeral of Martin Wahl, who died Monday at the family home at 201 Clifford Ave,aged 73 years, will be held from the home at 8:30 o'clock to-morrow morning and St. Michael's Church at 9 o'clock.\ He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Wahl; three sons, Martin, of Orlando, Florida, Albert and Valentine Wahl of this city; six daughters, Mrs. John Lingg, Mr. William Streb, Mrs. Joseph Weisenberger, Mrs. David Mole, Mrs. Joseph Fuertado, of Washington, and Mrs. S. LaShell, of Cleveland; twenty four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, John Wunch of Chicago and Frank Wahl of Philadelphia; and two sisters, Mrs. M Markel and Mrs. L Grassberger of the this city. He was a member of Irondequiot Tribe No 225, Improved Order of Red Men, the Reinpfalzer Society, and the old Union Guards. His father died when he was very little and his mother married my 4ggrandfather, John Ham. I'm not sure when he left Barrington, Somersetshire, but his family emigrated through the port of Bristol to Baltimore on their way to Rochester. He was not in the party. They entered the country 3 Sep 1842 and he died 29 Sep 1842. He and his wife Charlotte are buried in the Brighton village cemetery, now in Rochester.
