He fought in the early 20's when he himself was in his early 20's. I have been told he remained most of his life in Rochester, never married and died alone in an area nursing home or hospital in the early 1980's. I would be most appreciative if anyone had any information to share regarding my late uncle, in particular an obituary. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: LocalHistoryDivRPL Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12107.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There's a few things that you might try. Besides the standard recommendation that we have, www.fultonhistory.com, we also have digitized the city directories to 1930: http://www3.libraryweb.org/lh.aspx?id=1105, and you might try to find them living at different places in them. The directories exist down to the present but are only online until 1930. Peter Kaufman and his family (Dora, and 4 stepsons) are listed in the 1930 directory as living at 826 Clifford Ave in the city, while Simon and Annie appear at 7 Grace St. in the same year. Author: LocalHistoryDivRPL Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12106.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There are such things as police scrapbooks going back that far. But the police records per se, including in some cases pictures of the people, are likely held at the Municipal Archives and Records Center, 414 Andrews St, Rochester, New York, 14604, phone (585) 428-7331. The downside of this is that we believe that there is only one staff person still working there. So, if you write or call, please allow a bit of time for an answer. We recall seeing such large books of cases over there; where the actual court records or arrest records might be is open to discussion. Civil court indexes might be at the Monroe County Clerk's office at 39 West Main St. Rochester NY, and those indexes are open to the public to examine. While the LDS church has filmed some old records and indexes, they do not seem to have done those yet. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. David Schoenberger
    3. Is the vital records index available at libraries other than the Archives in Albany? I am looking for the death of my Grt Grandfather, Peter Henry O'Brien. (b. New Jersey, 1875) He appears in the 1923 Rochester City directory. From 1924 on, only his wife, Emma O'Brien appears. (204 Dickenson St.) . I am assuming that he died late 1923 or 1924. He was Catholic but is not in Holy Sepulchre.. I am at a standstill finding his death date/ place. David Schoenberger. North Carolina

The complaint against the two was made by my great grandfather and a small article which I've found appreared on page 17 of the Jan 18 1912 Rochester Democrat is what has clued me in to this. Author: LocalHistoryDivRPL Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12105.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The family does not seem to be listed in any of our Peters family genealogies. However, they do appear in Macedon through the 1870 census (and wife Sarah appears there in the 1880 census). Having said that, you might want to try looking at copies of the 1855 and 1865 census of New York for Wayne County. The LDS has it for free on their pilot Familysearch site, but only some counties, and Wayne is not yet among them. Those censuses ask what county a person was born in and how long they have been there - which could prove to be very useful for Zury-Zura (the Cara is clearly a mistake when you look at the original census). Finding what county they were originally were from could give a better guess as to who their parents are, and what Sarah's maiden name was. The only Peters that we find in the 1855 census of Monroe County (we have a card index, which is not yet online), shows a W. Peters aged 28 in 1855, born in Wayne County. Author: nancymoffett1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12105/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for information on the Xury (Zury/Cara) Peters family prior to the 1840 census. Xury Peters bc 1809 had 13 children, one of whom was Mary b 1833. At age 16, she married James Fitzgerald in front of a Justice of the Peace. Another child was Isaac b 1849 who is mentioned in Biographies of Monroe County People. Specifically, who were Xury's parents? What is this Peters family relationship to other Peters in the area (such as Barnett Peters and son Jacob)? What was Sarah Peters' maiden name? When did the Peters family move to the area and from where? Thanks for any hints or pointers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYMONROE] pictures
    2. Dick Halsey
    3. In the last days I have added about 30 new pictures to the GenWeb of Monroe Co. site. These new scans are larger than ones on the site before. Some highlights are: sheep and floods at South (now Genesee Valley) Park (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/0218.htm), three postcards of Dr. Lee's Hospital (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/0760.htm) which was on Lake Ave., two postcards of the interior of Odenbach's Restaurant (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/1562.htm), five 50s postcards of Lollypop Farm (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/1860.htm and http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/1861.htm), people working at Kodak Camera Works (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/1114.htm#b and http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/1116.htm), an ad for Selden Trucks (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/9006b.htm) and three pictures of Jenkins Autos that were manufactured on University Avenue (http://mcnygenealogy.com/pictures/9050.htm). Altogether the GenWeb site has about 1000 pictures in the website. About 90% are old postcards. When I moved to Rochester in the mid 1970s I took the tour of Kodak's Elmgrove site. They were building cameras and slide projectors. Anybody got pictures of people working in Elmgrove? Dick H.
